I retract my statement about improved protection of the AT-RT-driver. He looks more exposed than ever before. My personal evaluation of the craft as nothing more than a "machinegun with legs" still stands.
I suppose vehicles of all sorts are needed for shield penetration missions, even ones of a seemingly poor design. The AT-RT seems like a light AT-PT. Looks like it would tend to be more of a patrol walker rather than anything that is designed to participate in pitched battle.
Also, the final design seems much shorter that depicted in the earlier AoR pic.

Funny thing, that Wookie-army shot from the teaser originally had one AT-RT to the left of the screen (during animatics). It was later removed from the final shot, so you only see those three-legged walkers and the Juggernauts.
Are those walkers confirmed to be three legged? Or is it just that pics perspective?

Yeah, first time I saw a production art, it reminded me of an AT-PT without the top-armor.

Probably to make it easier for the driver to get on and off.

Hopefully just the perspective. The few frames of animation don´t really give that much room for an extra leg as it moves, but I can´t really wrap my head around how that thing would move with only three legs.

Maybe it lost its fourth leg in battle? I really hope it isn't a three legged walker, the design makes no sense.

Those walkers don´t look like AT-RTs to me. A little too big, and somewhat different in the cockpit area. Probably just an oversight by the artist.
Maybe an oversight, or maybe we'll get lucky and have another 2 legged walker in the film....

A BARC Trooper? We see them riding a BARC Speeder in the film, they look exactly like Scout Troopers except for their armour being green- unless in order to ride an AT-RT you get a special helmet attachment. We know that Sky Troopers will have the same kind of attachment, but it'll be on the standard (new) Clonetrooper helmet.
Whoa...wtf is going on with the space background? The stars are shifting back and forth from Coruscant...weird.

The open-air fido gunner, AT-RT; and the LAAT don't bother me much: the Republic is new to all this total war stuff that they are buried in; the technology is the same throughout the Star Wars saga; the mindset isn't.
Examples in our universe abound: Lack of gun shields on light vehicles, tank commanders still have to crotch defilade themselves to understand what the frag is going on in an urban environment, armored vehicles that don't deserve the name, et cetera.

I realize that, but the stars and the planet should not be moving relative to each other. The planet and stars are much too far away for that to happen. You would have to go an extraordinary distance to be able to see more stars just by panning right. Does it move hundreds kilometers all the way to the right of Coruscant to reveal more stars? I don't think so. The only way this is possible is if the ship is moving left and right, but then you would notice it's moving by looking at Coruscant. This obviously does not happen. It must be an unfinished scene. I don't think ILM would make a screw-up that big.

Is it me or does Tarkin look almost like a cartoon character?
