Ok.
So, how did their comm gear survive the EMP?

And what became of Jake's puddlejumper?

Man, did I really say Jake? I meant Jack, of course.
Been a long week.

Dunno about the EMP, but one presumes they kept the puddle-jumper; likely Jack flew it around a little more, got used to it, and then they brought the jumper through the gate to a more secure location. Couldn't take it to Earth unless they winched the gate back up through the roof shaft to the surface, and I doubt they'd want to do much of that...

Alright, here we go with SG-1.

First, the title: Everything I hear that, I think Mel Brooks. 8)

As for the story, it was good to see Mayborne again. It gives the sense that SG-1 is moving towards bringing its past threads and events back to the forefront as the series moves towards what will likely be its last season. It's also nice to have O'Neil offworld again and Teal'cas attempts to convince him to rescue the former NID agent:
Teal'c: If we do not retrieve him, Harry Maybourne faces certain capture. (Jack stares) Torture. Interrogation. Perhaps even death.
(long pause)
Jack: All right, fine, go get him.
The discovery of the Puddle Jumper, aside from a nice tie-in with SGA (even though i'm not crazy about the series), should make things interesting in regards to the remainder of the season from the brief synopsis I've read.

Yeah... they could get the puddlejumper into Earth's Gateroom, but they'd never move it out. I'm betting Alpha Site.

Or, they could point the gate straight up and fly it through the shaft and out of the mountain.

Ahh Mayborne!
I like the changes in him. At first he was a bastard, but OUR bastard. Think what you will of him, but he had Earth's best interests at heart. Oddly enough, some of the creepyest men mean well, yet the ends justify the means to them. Getting wealthy while doing it is a perk for risking your own very unpleasant death.
The places he was, and the people he was with, and what he felt he had to do made him a bad man.
He probably wasn't sadistic, or cruel though. His type can go into robot mode, and emotionatly shut down, and not hesitate to "do the nasty things you must."
Several things have happened. Earth is no longer on the brink of destruction. He has AGED! He is now surrounded by simple people who love him. He has NO ENEMIES on this planet. He said "wives", but how long before he has children?
When a man gets a certain age, he rethinks and reevaluates his life and goals. The "possibility" of living to be OLD is thrust into your face. You are almost there! You are not as quick, strong, or tough, so using those things to stay ahead of the game become a losing proposition. What was first an exciting game of wits, is now a scary battle for survival.(back when the "helm of ignorance and arrogance" made you fearless)
Not being alone when you die starts to become something to work harder at. Same with "what happens when I am gone."
Harry has the ultimate spy retirement. No old buisness to ever catch up with him. He does no physical labour he doesn't want to do, and literally lives like a king.
If he wasn't a sociopath to begin with, the genuine warmth and love he receives alone would change him. He has done GOOD for his people, and they WANT his leadership. By their standards and experiences, he is a wise and kind man.

I am a great believer in change and redemption, so this colored my view. A favourite saying of mine about rotten kids is, "worse than him have turned out better than me."

Anybody ELSE besides me think his change is real? Remember that he did lie like a rug to the Jaffa with oscar winning sincerity.
Hmmmmmm.

*Lifts up hand* Agreed. He's still a bastard with an attitude that'll get him not that many friends with the SGC, but he's mellowed, and he genuinely cares for his people. I actually rather like this Maybourne... make no mistake, I still don't like him, but he's definitely a much better character than he was before. He's genuinely changed-- still has the whole "looking-out-for-number-one" attitude, but he now cares about his people, he's willing to do anything to take care of them. This was definitely one of Maybourne's best epsiodes, and a great way to bring closure to his character...

His talks with Wayne Brady (yeah, that's who he always is, no matter the character) were an act. He wasn't trying to ingratiate himself with Ares' forces, he was trying to keep his people alive and safe. If he has to kiss some Jaffa ass to do it, he will, but he truly cared about those people.

I liked Wayne's performence. It reminding me of 'Evil Wayne' from Chepelle's Show, which admittedly is kinda hard to take seriously.

Wayne appeared to me as a Jaffa leader who knows the truth behind his "God". He does what he does for power and glory. That made his references to his god seem somewhat lame, but only to those looking for it. It actualy added an element of realism IMO. He seemed like a real personality. Too bad his character was so short lived.

It looks like there's more than enough room to open the shaft and hover the jumper out of there, actually. I am irritated though that they don't explain what became of it. And that it took out a Ha'tak with two squids.

IIRC it was stated in one of the Season 8 eps that the drone supply was exhausted during Anubis' attack.

Wouldn't they be better off taking the jumper to the alpha site? It just seems like they would have more options when it came to getting it to the neccesary facilities. Speaking of, doesn't the alpha site have researchers and laboratories on site? I dunno, just seems like they could take it to the Alpha site and move it around with a lot less trouble than trying to open up the mountain top or moving the Earth gate.

That would be an eminently bad idea. The Replicators know where the Alpha Site is, unless it's been moved.

Wow...

yeah, ok, forgot about that for a minute. But, by the same argument, the replicators know where Earth is to so no place is realy safe.

How would they get it through the Alpha Site's gateroom, anyway? Isn't it just as enclosed as Earth's?

Dismount the gate and roll it out to the hangar. How do you think they got it in there?
