Blogs intrigue me (advice)

Post by Stravo »

My interest of writing always made me want to take up journal writing. I just never seem to get around to it but this blog notion seems kind of cool, its online nature means I'll have alot more access to it so I can write.

Anyone have advice/tips/suggestions on having a blog, like where to go, who to use, etc.

The usual sites I've seen my friends use have been livejournal and xanga. They seem pretty decent and are supposed to be easy to use.

If you want free, I suggest Livejournal. But I wrote my own software which is a lot more customisable. Will need to host it on your own webspace, though.

A friend of mine uses Livejournal and is pretty happy with it. I might look into that one.

It's a decent server (a lot better than blurty's, anyway) and the software is quite good; personally I just don't like the lack of ease of beign able to customise it, hense why I wrote my own. Of course - some people are happy with what you can do with it :)

Go for LJ if you're an emo teenager who is full of angst.

Teenagers really abuse LJ though since 90% of them don't have real problems. Or they're just fucking stupid.

How the heck is that abuse?! If someone wants to post his thoughts on LJ, why the heck does he need 'problems'?

From what I've seen, Xanga is a little more community-oriented - you'll often find half of the population of a school on one. Blogger is decent, and so is Xanga. I really haven't seen much of a difference between the two.

I dunno about using a blog or LJ or Xanga or whatever to tell the world about my personal life, but I've been thinking about starting a political blog.
