Post-NJO Speculation Thread (Spoilers)

I doubt most EU authors could do it...but KoTOR did show that the whole bit is not impossible it just needs to be original in essence of what the twist is.

KoTOR is the three thousand nine hundred era, and at heart is basically another Sith Lord trying to conquer the galaxy and destroy the Republic and the Jedi Order.

What made it work was the twists and the ideas they presented. If a good author could think beyond using just your average ideas(not just yet another pointless conquest, add spice to the villains and heros instead of yet another Emperor wannabe Mark-XXIX) and still have a good conquest story it can work without using the OT cast as the spearhead.

Given that Troy Denning is writing the trilogy, I'm not surprised to see several plots from his prior SW novels showing up.

* The Killiks: We knew from information released that the Alderranian insectoid race from Tatooine Ghost would play a role and Gorog appears to be the firebrand that was mentioned in the synopsis:

* Raynar Thul: Interesting. Thul has been MIA and presumed dead since Star by Star. His fate has been debated and argued by YJK fans. Personally, having only read two of the novels -- and that was painful since of course KJA was wrote them -- I can't say I care too much. Even with the events of the NJO, I'm still more fond of the OT/early EU characters.

On the same note, I'm not too crazy about Welk, one of the two Dark Jedi from Star by Star , having survived. We don't need any more of the Bantam era Dark Jedi of the week again

No Kettch was the name of Janson's joke fictional ewok pilot, Zsinj's was called Chuluk or something like that... Besides IIRC correctly theres was more than one ewok, although only one that had learned to fly as of yet,

Yes, I know the policy of not resurrecting dead threads, but there's been no details on either The Dark Nest trilogy or the rest of the post-NJO series for two months. In that rrgard, we could in theory consider this thread dormant, but I won't push the envelope.

Anywa, the offical site has posted another synopsis --

Luke Skywalker is worried: A handful of Jedi Knights, including his nephew and niece, Jaina and Jacen Solo, have disappeared into the Unknown Regions in response to a strange cry for help that only they could hear. The isolationist Chiss have angrily lodged a formal complaint, accusing the missing Jedi of meddling in a border dispute between the Chiss and an unidentified aggressor.

Luke has no choice but to head to the Unknown Regions in an attempt to stem the growing tensions before they spill out of control. Han and Leia follow, intent on protecting their children from what could be grave danger. But none of them are prepared for what they find when they reach their destination.

A colony of mysterious aliens is expanding toward the edge of Chiss space. The leader of the alien nest is resolute. Adept in the Force, he is drawing old friends to his side, compelling them to join the colony and meld their Force-abilities with his, even if it leads to all-out war....

well it's not has if Han is going to get any younger lol

unfortunately it seems Han, Leia and Luke have to play heros again this time into their 50's. I sort of hoped that the NJO series would slowly see a shift from them as the main heroes. It wouldn't be so bad if they were important background figures would it?

But I'm looking forward to it anyway. I enjoyed the NJO and Denning was a good author.

Be cool to see bug swarms vs Jedi Knights. Superhuman warrior monks with glowing swords againsts swarms of giant insects that need lots and lots of RAID. I've always wondered what would happen if they replaced the droids from Geonosis with any type of bug swarm...

Kolot was his name. It is possible that Zsinj had more labs set up in his territory, and that one of them had an Ewok who manged to escape somehow. Although it would have been nice to hear from Lara Notsil--I mean, Kirney Slayne--again.

*Dark Nest will end up with more people than it started with. The baby that we've heard about will be born in the trilogy (not in the arc or between the trilogy and arc) and the mother will be someone familiar to us. And it is just the one baby.

*Jacen has finished his trip to seek out other Force-sensitive cultures before Joiner King opens. We will find out some of the things he's seen and done, but we won't be given every little detail.
