Waitwait...RED box...nono, that's the voltage. Can you see a wattage figure on the side of the power supply, on a sticker?

I had the same problem and upped my old PSU from a 300 to a 550 (the price difference was minimal) and I've been fine ever since.

A 550? What brand would offer such insane wattage for such a low price?

You need to be very careful when using an air compressor to clean a computer, you can easily blow minor componets out of the curcuit boards. If that happens, welcome to fuckdom.

Agreed. The ones that do plug into the cigarette lighter are actually highly preferrable for that kind of work (or they would be if that wouldn't force you to move your PC into the freaking car). IIRC, there's dedicated low-power compressors available for IT work.

We use a dive tank at the shop. Works like a charm, generally lasts us about 3-4 weeks before we have to take it to the dive shop for air...and that's cheap. Far more economical than buying our own compressor, and more portable too. Canned air is all well and good, but it runs out too quickly and has dick for pressure.

I used a Qtech PSU.

An alternative for air compressors BTW, is those used by model makers that use airbrushes. Companies such as Revell make small, easily portable air compressors that would suffice for this.

Thats why you don't put the nozzle up close to a board. I always keep it several inches back.

Problem solved by salvaging a power supply from a previous computer.
