What ISP do you use?
Reading through a recent IP banning thread prompted me to think about the following question:
How do you access the Internet. If this has been done before, then it was done when I was asleep.
Do you use one of the big ISPs, such as MSN, AT&T Worldnet, or the AOL Collective (where resistance really IS futile.)
Or do you use your cable company or your school?
Or maybe you use something other than that, like a local ISP?
Me, I have several ways of getting to the outside world.
1) My school. Broadband is sweet . . . when the damned school network isn't a) Plugged up by people downloading MP3s and porn, or b) Experiencing DOS attacks.
2) AOL . . . as supplied by people other than me. Which means I don't have to pay for it. Unfortunately, for a realistic view of what it means to get to the Internet via AOL . . . go here: http://flemcomics.com/139.htm
3) AT&T Worldnet. I pay for 150 hours per month. I use this account to hunt for jobs and conduct business.
4) A low-cost ISP: Access4cheap . . . only $6.95 a month for unlimited 56k access, and so far I've been extremely happy with them.

Cox Internet (www.cox.com) I pay $50 a month for my Cable Internet and they couldn't care less what I do with that as long as I don't send email spam (I presume: besides who the HELL pays for Cable Internet just to SPAM when a 56K'll work wonders anyway?) or other usual TOS violations... BTW Sorry bout that GM Terwyn, that thread was all my doings...

Well techinically I use broadband. Knology cable to be exact. My dad for some reason is an old coot and keeps AoL, just uses the cable to sign on with. In fact AoL is pissing me off right now because I'm downloading and installing version 8.0. AoL really isn't as bad as what everyone makes it out to be. It used to be hellacious. However since I've used the AoL emails for years and years and almost everything is tied into them I didnt put up an argument to drop it. heh.

No, its easy to hack a MS OS. This isn't changing that. Its just saving the hackers about 30secs.Shinova wrote:Easier for hackers, more convenient for hackers...weemadando wrote:bwahahahahah!Shinova wrote:Will giving our isp, connection type, etc, make it easier for hackers to hit our comps?
