Uh, Wu hu cang long wasn't exactly hated by everyone. It didn't do as well in Asia, specifically China, but it didn't do badly either.Slartibartfast wrote:I always thought the way they did the animations in the LoTR cartoon (rotoscoping) was pretty awesome. Also there was blood n stuff, which for a cartoon is very impressive.
Lemme see... Wo hu cang long was very good, most people complained about the unrealistic physics but they missed the point that it was supposed to be a damn fairy tale/folk story thingy or whatever. Just like a girl being born from a lotus flower isn't very realistic either.
Pleasantville was nice.
I don't really go to the movies that much. Oh wait Ghosts of Mars was fun, in a cheesy B-movie sort of way.

OK, I didn's see the very beginning of Dark City either and I liked the movie just fine. So by all means don't tell me the shitty part at the beginning.

My ex-roomates all have hated my collection of "subs", I have LaFemme Nakita, Rashomon, Cereno DeBerjerac, Seven Samurai, Kagemusha, Ran, Yojimbo, and more anime and Jackie Chan then you can shake a stick at all in subtitled format. I even have Das Boot on DVD, so I could see it in Widescreen, in German, with English subtitles.

I liked The Power of One (dunno if nobody liked it or not) and Seven Years in Tibet (same deal....some people just don't like it) and other various Chinese/Tibetan movies.

Ahem... Bryce was born and spent his formative years in South Africa, and then came to Australia in the sixtys as an Autralian citizen. One of my pet hates about my own country is the fact that if anyone spent even a year of their life growing up of living here, they become 'our' property. Let's face it, Russel Crowe is a Kiwi, and part of me thinks it'd be good if he stayed a Kiwi.

I saw through the plot holes in Jurassic Park 1 and 2, ID4 and Armageddon, but I enjoyed them for what they were.
Any critic who didn't understand Dark City can't handle real science fiction.
The Neverending Story (ONLY the first film) was something I couldn't get out of my head for weeks afterward. That Falkor renewed my interest in dragons in a big way.

I knew most of that. But he has been there quite a while now, compared to other "Aussie icons".Sparkticus wrote:Ahem... Re: Movies that everyone hated but you really liked
Actually I like Fletch Lives better than Fletch. Ice Pirates was pretty good as well. Jake Speed was okay. Haven't seen the others.Lagmonster wrote:I must have some seriously bad taste or something. There are a lot of movies that I loved, but everyone else hates for some reason. And my friends think, subsequently, that *I'm* crazy for liking any of these:
Fletch Lives
Kung Pow: Enter the Fist
The Ice Pirates
Jake Speed
Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human
I love these shows! They might suck, but I just can't see it. Anyone care to share any titles that they really loved but that everyone else thinks sucked rabid donkey?
