-ooc- Innocentbystander and Marcao- I'm assuming that if I asked very nicely for your ambassadors on Osiris to come and meet my Secretary of State, they would, so I'm gonna start with the conversation itself.
-::-
The State Building on Osiris was, like many governmental buildings in the Commonwealth, situated in the Old City of Osiris' capital city, Nova Alexandra. Like all the worlds which had started as colonies, the major cities were built strangely. The centers, where the oldest buildings were, were first built in the early days of the planet's human habitation. The Old City covered three square miles of Nova Alexandra, and not a single building in the area stood taller than six stories. It was a small patch in the vast city-hive of Osiris' industrial regions. The Confederate and Sabai hover-limos set down, and their occupants recieved a beautiful view of the New City's skyline, vast walls of plascrete glinting in the setting sun.
The State Building was not one of those vast, technocratic monuments. It was a 6-story construct of 300-year-old marble, an anachronism steeped in history. It's tall minarets and spires held a humble majesty. Bas reliefs of the wars which lead to formation of the Three Suns Commonwealth adorned the structure, while they did not approach the grandiose palaces on far-off Tranquility, they held a certain beauty which could not be denied.
The city spoke much of the Commonwealth- modern industrial might and technology, guided by ancient principles of personal freedom, honor, and civic responsibility.
Inside this structure, the Sabai and ACIN Ambassadors finished the last courses of the meal. Sabine Erfurter, the Secretary of State, delicately wiped her full lips (Doubtless purchased at no small cost) and began speaking in her polite, clipped tone.
"Madame Ambassador Kalai, Holy Sister- I thank you for joining me. I won't insult your intelligence, I'm sure you all know that this meeting is more than just a social call."
"The Commonwealth has watched the efforts your nation has made, Holy Sister. Your efforts in the construction of Blue Point station and the forging of the Western Rim Trade Route has been a great undertaking, which I do not doubt will bring both your nations great wealth through the power of commerce."
"Similarly, we feel that our nations have a great deal in common. Amongst our colonies, we are building similar bridges and opening up similar avenues of economic expansion. We also see exclusion here. Mm. Kalai, your recent break of our tradin relations is most troubling."
"Now, Madame Ambassadors, I'd like to point something out. Currently, your trade will flow freely, but will not travel much further than the Core. Currently, your trade will be with the Entente- after all, what need would you have of trading beyond the Entente, when you can sell and purchase there?"
"Well, perhaps you'd like to do business with other powers. Perhaps, trade would be more beneficial for all of us if your goods found there way to the Eastern Rim, and vice versa."
"So, I place before you this idea- simply placing it on the table- of the Osiris Treaty. It's a simple deal. Sabai and ACIN trading vessels will be given most favored nation status when trading in Ambrosia and other major Commonwealth ports of call on the Eastern Rim Trade Lane. On the same note, the Commonwealth will recieve similar concessions in it's trade through the ACIN and Blue Point. Goods will flow between our two polities, while moving over the core systems."
"Your thoughts, Madam Ambassadors?"

Even as Rear Admiral Hallmeyer's transmission ends, target-priority data begins to spill out from fleet CIC to the arrayed craft via combat datalink. Despite its redundancy, tradition demands one last thing from the squadron commander, and he depresses the stud on his comm control panel once again. His voice booms out of every speaker throughout the Third Battle Squadron, "All ships, weapons free, pick your targets and engage."
Meanwhile, CIC is busy passing out the actual orders that count, the ones that send the squadron's two heavy and four light cruisers flipping end-over-end and burning back towards the fleeing raiders, carrier deckloads spreading out to cover them, along with the Third's two boarding craft. At the same time, forty missiles spill free of tubes on four of the ships, outracing the cruisers with ease...followed by a second, and a third, missiles storming through the void towards the fleeing pirates. The Godhand heavy cruisers steadily fall behind the lights, as they slalom back and forth to spray their missile broadsides into space as they close.
And then the missiles reach attack range and begin to detonate, energy beams smashing through lighter shielding and armor with contemptuous ease. Rather than concentrate fire on a few targets, the Sixth's fire splits among multiple targets. The reason for that becomes quickly clear, as stilettos of energy-fire lash through shields, smash armor aside...and slash vulnerable aft drive pods to ribbons. The stricken ships begin to fall behind as their brethren race ahead...into the waiting broadsides of the pursuing cruisers. Railguns rom the Godhands' heavy turrets begin to fire first, fists of kinetic energy hammering through tattered shields and buckled armor. The few ships that make it past the bombardment meet the true purpose of the Pegasus light cruiser design as they reef around to present their broadsides, thirty close-assault missiles leaping from each of the four ships.
The pint-sized missiles have minimal endurance, a lighter EW package than a standard missile, and a slightly smaller warhead...but their acceleration is phenomenally high due to reduced mass, and even a ship that small can pack a heavy broadside of them. Two of the largest ships are left untouched as their compatriots are smashed into scrap and plasma...only to be met by the remaining two ships in the pursuit unit. In the confusion, each hard-docks with one of the raider cruisers, charges blowing holes in the hull for both boarding troops and locking clamps to secure the craft together.

"Piracy in Auroran Imperial Space Drops"
"Since the launch of an ERTC joint task force which included the elite Commonwealth Navy formation known as the Graiai, or Grey Sisters, piracy and dissonance in the region recently vacated by Auroran invasion forces has been cut off to pre-invasion levels. Assisted by close assistance by the Krytos Imperial Navy and the warships of the Knights Templar, over twenty pirate vessels have been destroyed or apprehended. While this accounts for only roughly 30% of the projected pirate forces in the region, a number of major pirate bases have been discovered completely clensed of everything of value and showing signs of recent evacuation. ERTC efforts seem to have driven off those who were not destroyed outright.
A representative of the Trade Commission spoke today,
"The Auroran Operation has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the ERTC is an effective anti-piracy force. It has operated with speed, efficiency, and very minimal losses. We will continue to spread peace and commerce as is our charter, and I think this proves we can do so."
"Immigration to Corneria Station Hits All-Time High"
Corneria, former capital of the People's Republic of Corneria and current site of the vital economic node of Corneria Station, is facing a steady influx of immigration from the surrounding remnants of the People's Republic. This movement is concident with an increasing rise in unification sentiment, calling for the incorporation of surrounding former Cornerian space with the trade-hub. Commonwealth officials have been unavailable for comment.

The Shi Combine fleet had been rapidly tearing through space, headed towards the 'convoy' in distress. Of course, there are always problems with reckless travel through uncharted territories.
The first warning the fleet had was when the probe shell in front of them crash-translated out of hyper. They barely had time to transmit a warning to the fleet behind them over their continuous data-links before smashing headlong into the base complex that had dragged them out of ftl.
A bare fraction of a second later, the Combine fleet poured into realspace, frantically moving into combat formation even as they attempted to take stock of their surroundings.
The conclusion was reached by the computers in less than a second, although it took noticeably longer for Tracking to relay it to command.
"Pirates", the admiral spat "All ships, move to attack, magnum fighter launch immediately"
The fleet was already leaping into action, it would be an interesting case study for the miltary history textbooks whichever way the battle turned out....

"Wealth, Madam Secretary? A side affect, perhaps, but far from the purpose of our endeavuors. Our Order has worked hard to restore some semblance of safety to the good people of our galaxy, working with what limited resources we have. This undertaking will help bring some of the more backwater worlds in the galaxy out of isolation, and into the greater galactic community." though undetectable, there was an unconcious strain of guild laced in her words.
"As is our duty, we work for the best interests of the galactic community, the core is wealthy, modern, and far from isloated. And while the many traders and merchants of the west may go where they please, as is our way, we shall do our best to guide them in the direction that might be most beneficial. The ACIN will consider your offer, Madam Secretary, as it may be most helpful to the galactic community." she checked a small datapad she had brought with her.
"Perhaps, Madam Secretary, the Commonwealth would care to dispatch representatives to Blue Pointe Station, it's completion approaches rapidly..." she looked toward the Sabai ambassador, expecting her reply.

As the Klingon fleet and Home Fleet closed on each other the Terran screen flowed away from the heavy Klingon warships to stay out of missile range. The bombardment that had created the massive minefield that had nearly decimated the Klingon fighter swarm had left the escorts with less then 5% of their missile capacity left.
Usually they would have tried to get on the Klingons flanks and poured in long range missile fire, unfortunately that wasn't going to be possible this time. So instead they fell back with the damaged ships and carriers behind the battlleline.
Admiral Worthintun saw his escorts disengaging smoothly and ordered the Battlecruiser Lancelot back into formation with the battleline. All of those escorts would be more then enough to protect his carriers and damaged cruisers.
"Concentrate all missile fire on the Klingon cruisers. We'll save the capital warships for energy range. Ignore the escorts, we'll send the bombers in against them"
"Aye, Aye Sir. All ships engaging." With that order, three Superdreadnoughts, four Dreadnoughts, two Battlecruisers and two Heavy Cruisers begin firing hypermissiles at twelve Klingon Cruisers.
The fighters that had engaged the incoming Klingon fighters were all refueling from spaceborne tankers or landing on the trailing carriers for hot refuelings and rearmament before joining the strike craft for the attack on the Klingon escort screen.
But all of that was going to be a sideshow, the battle would be decided in the old way. Capital ship versus capital ship, and the UTRN had twice as many capital ships in this battle then the Klingons, and the actual balance of power was even more lopsided considering that the Klingon ships were only battleships and the UTRN had deployed dreadnoughts and superdreadnoughts. It was more like four or five to one in the UTRNs favor.
In the first fifteen minutes of the missile bombardment four Klingon Heavy Cruisers were destroyed, three more were heavily damaged and the rest all sustained some damage to one degree or another.
Meanwhile the carrier launched strike force of almost eight hundred bombers hit the fifty plus Klingon escorts and dodged and weaved among them while releasing timed missile strikes on the destroyers and frigates of the klingon screen.
By the time the fighters, refuled and rearmed after intercepting the Klingon fighter swarm, had reached them the bombers had already destroyed over a dozen light ships.
The Klingon escorts had been built as light raiders, which meant they used most of there available volume for offensive firepower and troop space, as well as oversized cargo holds. They were not designed to take on small craft since they were severly lacking in both point defense and armor.
By the time the capital ships were close enough to begin slugging it out with energy weapons, another four cruisers had been destroyed and the rest were heavily. "Have our capital ships switch their missile fire over to the klingon screen, have them go to local control also, no need for concentrated missile fire on such small targets."
"Yes sir. Transmitting orders."
"Very good. Now order Lincoln and Kodiak to engage the remaining Klingon cruisers. Our big boys'll take care of their big boys. "
Klingons had to have known it was pointless but they still kept coming. They concentrated all there firepower on the already damaged superdreadnought TNS Union as they entered energy range. Home Fleet responded instantly by concentrating all of its fire on a Klingon Battlecruiser.
An hour later it was all over as the last Klingon Battleship exploded. All of the Klingon capital ships and cruisers ahd beend estroyed and it didn't look like more then a dozen, most likely eight to ten, escorts had escaped from Home Fleet.
"Send the word to the Fleet Train to move up for resupply operations, and send out our shuttles for SAR operations." Home Fleet had just destroyed the last mobile force in the Qu'NoS system and all that was left before they could begin assault landings were the fixed defenses and planetary shield defending the Klingon capital planet itself.
Not a small problem to overcome but one Worthintun was sure Home Fleet could deal with.

Today, Admiral Worthintun, CO Home Fleet, released a statement to the press. "Home Fleet has engaged the last elements of the Klingon Fleet in battle over Qu'NoS. And destroyed them utterly. Today the Terran Navy has taken complete control over the Qu'NoS system, and we will not relinguish that control. We have fought hard, and will continue to do so until we have eradicated the Klingon Empire from the galactic map."
Sources report that Home Fleet suffered only light lossses in the battle while the Klingon fleet was destroyed completely. Home Fleet is now preparing to move on Qu'Nos orbital and planetary defenses in preparation for an eventual planetary assault by the UTRAs 32nd Legion.

-:13 Republics:-
Space twisted at the edge of the system as the warship deccelerated. The frigate Bakui shed energy from her hull as she dropped out of hyperspac and began the slow burn in-system to the 13 Republics capital.
The small assault vessel's chameleon hull was set to the snow white colors of a diplomatic ship, and the Sword and Suns of the Commonwealth were displayed prominently across her hull.

The ship arrowed in, her drive cutting a tail of plasma fire across the cosmos. The deadly little vessel fell towards the capital, waiting a response.

The ships, newly made colonizers head out into the wild space just outside the republics outer systems looking for hospitable planets with already functioning civilzation. The first target will be a world that wouldve made the 13 the 14 but the rebelled and won their independence in an underhanded use of shield technology developed in their system. Currently enroute towards this planet are four ships of the Reliant light cruiser class, Reliant, Courage, Fidelity, and Valiant with them are two Marine Landing Vessels filled with troops, as they head in towards the planet that has recently come under a civil war they realize they havent got far to go in retaking this planet. the civil war has ravaged it, most of the industry is abandoned and the sight of Advanced Vessels in orbit has caused many of the people to cheer their arrival on both sides of the conflict thinking they have come for them.
