Do you mean for me to send another diplomat? Because, the full staff for an embassy was on that vessel. Along with all my equipment and marines for guard duty. And the ship was to stay there.
yeah about that. well you see heres what happened. you diplomats came, we discussed, we agreed on peace. we would build an embassy but i saw no need for you to leave your diplomatic vessel here. its not as if it was going to do anything other than be confiscated in the case of an emergency where all vessels would be siezed by the government. so we thought you might want to keep it so we sent it back to your fleet. the thing about another diplomat is in case you want to fire this one or simply change out the 10 marines you brought with it the first time. but dont worry if your want your diplomatic corp off our planet at any time, simply ask for a ANN vessel, im sure we can send a corvette to get you out
It had way more than ten marines. Those were the first down the ramp. And no way am I leaving my people on your planet with the only way out is through you. The ship stays. And I want land big enough to hold my embassy, living quaters, and area for my ship.
fine very well just put the paperwork in the main thread and itll be carried out. no need for anymore discussion, just act like the previous shit didnt happen. oh and im also assuming youll want a makeshift barracks for your marines, right? oh and probably some autodefense towers too eh?

thirdfain what are you coming to the 13 for? its not like you need anymore allies... but hey you want to come and build up an embassy, fine by me. just put in on the main thread

I have a few questions though, how are we to deal with ship captures? well i mean such as if one of my ships captures a pirate cruiser, does that vessel enter my navy or what? because it occured to me that would be a very easy way to flesh out my navy.

and since when is confiscating a ship an Act of War? whenever you see a planetwide evacuation in film or book its usually all non-military vessels, diplomatic and non that are confiscated. of course in my case, after the fact of the matter there would be just compensation for the loss of the vessel.

No, I dont need autodefense towers. And confiscating a civilian ship that belongs to your nation is ok. Do it to a ship flying the flag of a nation and it is.

Correction, he bombed himself so his own space station crashed into one of his occupied cities. Which really should have struck people as fishy at the time, if the station was a loss, and it took as long as it did to fall, it should have been possible to nuke the thing if he really gave a shit about the civilians that got toasted. Man, we were some unthinking gullible losers.
I did find it fishy for multiple reasons and said as much, and was summarily ignored by all and sundry because the Unification was being a bunch of short-sighted, greedy bastards, the "useful idiots," as Stalin would call them.

In retrospect Marcao would have foiled our dastardly plan (to within 90% probability) because we were playing it far too close to the bone, but we really were doing our best to be tremendously evil, and we did manipulate the hell out of the Unification--mainly Straha.

A commerce-based power like the Commonwealth Trois-Sols relies upn it's diplomatic connections to survive. Why would I not establish an embassy in any new power of note?

and since when is confiscating a ship an Act of War? whenever you see a planetwide evacuation in film or book its usually all non-military vessels, diplomatic and non that are confiscated. of course in my case, after the fact of the matter there would be just compensation for the loss of the vessel.
I can assure you, at the ourbreak of WW1, Britain did not confiscate every American ship in port.
I have a few questions though, how are we to deal with ship captures? well i mean such as if one of my ships captures a pirate cruiser, does that vessel enter my navy or what? because it occured to me that would be a very easy way to flesh out my navy.
Feel free, but most pirates will field nothing more than terribly out-of-date escorts, and they will be badly damamged in the fighitng for control. You'd be far better off just building new ones.

I did find it fishy for multiple reasons and said as much, and was summarily ignored by all and sundry because the Unification was being a bunch of short-sighted, greedy bastards, the "useful idiots," as Stalin would call them.

Ain't that the case?

More or less. I think the fact that I was moments away from withdrawing from war might have dropped that danger from the battlefield, but it' still 50/50 at best for us.

Well, Marcao's and my fleet were already poised to attack Hudson. Thirdfain was a threat and needed to be dealt with

Now that I think about it, that fleet of probes could have found Thirdfain's hiding Machine warships... Did we ever tell them about the probes?

Yup, and those probes may or may not have been scouting the hundreds of cubic lightyears of hyperspace area around Eketrina where the Machines were hiding, far from any commonly used hyperlanes.

Anyway, if you had attacked immediately, before I'd betrayed the Unification, you can rest assured you'd be facing some of my Axis assets as WELL as the Unification. It'd be bloody as hell, and I'm not sure it would have ended well for you.

No, but the odds against finding a fleet of ships hanging out in deep space, even with a billion probes, are... ahem... astronomical.

This was done to death before, so let's not hijack the current STGOD. I'll just say here that it doesn't matter if we bloodied them, they still would have foiled the plan and mucked everything up.

I'm sure it would have ended a very painful and drawn out conquest of our territories. I think, however, that it would have ruined your plans of conquest, and seriously put down the ouster's ability to repair and rebuild.

I have one question for you two, however, Thirdfain and Pablo - what would have happened if one of those little null-magic lizards got close to the Speaker? Would she be free of the vampire mind control? Would she collapse dead? I toyed with the idea, always wondered what would have come of it...

At that point, she had probably been technologically sequestrated as well as Vampirically puppeted. And since no one knew she was being mind controlled, why would you do so in the first place?

Well you had basically invited me into your war, as I recalled. It wouldn't be unreasonable to send a diplomat over to publicly announce our aid in your little crusade. Of the two diplomats which I had named and used for high profile events, one was on earth, and the other was free and carried a ysilimiri around in the same way that I've seen british royals carry small dogs around with them.

As to why specifically? I suppose technically, it was where out of character information and in character motives could have easily worked togather. I think I figured that maybe the Speaker would come out of it, and might go looney and end up stopping the war, at least for a short time.

The idea was, of course, aborted.

Hey, is it necessary to post new in-game additions to your fleet in the OOB? I've been wondering, and with Ascension completed...

Yes, your OOB should be updated regularly. However, I'm at a loss as to how your fleet would have grown significantly this early. did you start the game with some ships under construction?
