Half Life help

I have downloaded some sprays to use with team fortress but I cant get them to work. If you know how to do this sort of thing, could you help me?

put the file that comes with it (pcal.wad or similar) into your HALF LIFE and TFC root folder then DON"T open up the players setting thing in the menu anytime after that as that deletes it and reverst to the orgionals
