Your Favorite Johnny Cash Tunes
Post your favorite Johnny Cash songs. My goal is to try and find some that I've never heard.
My favorites:
1. Sunday Morning Coming Down (my theme song)
2. For you (with Dave Matthews)
3. Hurt (watch the video, it's very powerful)
4. Ghost Riders In The Sky
5. How Highs The Water Mama?
6. The Baron
7. Folsom Prison Blues
8. Man In Black
9. One Piece At a Time
10. A Boy Named Sue
*Edit: Deleted the bit on "Like a Soldier", I found it. File sharing is awesome.*
*Edit 2: Though these are numbered, they are in no particular order, except for #1-Sunday Morning Coming Down. That is indeed my favorite.*

M1891/30: A bad day on the range is better then a good day at work.
It can be hard to decide. Most of the ones that are my favorites are the ones I listened to with my Dad as a child, so there is sentimental attachment there. But I found that some of his newer work's are very powerful.Superman wrote:I can't decide on my favorite, but I love "The Man Comes Around," which was also played in "Dawn of the Dead." He's got so many good songs, I dunno.
I should note that though my list is numbered, that they are in no particular order. Except for Sunday Morning Coming Down, that is indeed my favorite.

The only song of his I know is the one on Dawn of the Dead, I like the imagery of it, and since that's the only song I know, i choose that one.

Love the Hurt cover. Though I have to admit I like NiN doing it better.Lord Pounder wrote:Ring of Fire, it reminds me of when i used to get a Tandoori every friday with a few mates. And i don't care what people thing i like his cover of Hurt.
I'm on the robotics team at school, and the team wanted to name the robot "A Knight Named Sue" (the knight is the schools mascot), but the principle shot it down because it "Implied cross-dressing and sexual confusion." Johnny gets 10 more awesome points.

funny thing is that since the Muzak uplike is busted we have been forced to rely on CD's. All of which have to be approved by the management. So I can't get away with Nick Cave, or NIN however we have the Cash covers which are legit as per management. (yes, they are dumb enough to ban artists, and say a different artist's work is OK, even if it's the exact same song.)

The scariest folk song lyrics are "My Boy Grew up to be just like me" from cats in the cradle by Harry Chapin

Ghost Riders in the Sky was one of my Dad's favorites, but he liked all of Johnny's songs. The ones that I remember hearing the most are:
Ghost Riders
Ring of Fire
Man in Black
Walk the Line
Sunday Morning Coming Down (as a child, I din't understand this one)
I wonder if Dad would have liked Hurt.

Me: Nope, that's why I have you around to tell me.
Nitram: You -are- beautiful. Anyone tries to tell you otherwise kill them.
