Canada and France also got good national anthems

I don't know what it is with people thinking the French national anthem is some hot shit, I can't stand the thing. Tbe US anthem is okay as long as you don't try to sing it.

Have to say that the USSR/Russian national anthem has the most stirring music I've heard. But out of all the anthems I've heard, a lot of those when wtaching sport events, there's few that can stand up to the Finnish anthem. Some of those few are the Czech and Slovak anthems, and the German one is also good.

But if you want to hear the Finnish anthem and judge for yourself, go here and click on the appropriate link to download the thing. I can't fucking believe how difficult it was to find an online audio file of the anthem, compared to how easily some other stuff like our national military march can be dug up.

I've heard the full four minutes of the German anthem, and several other anthems on cell phone ringtones. I've also heard the Greek anthem is the longest, with about forty stanzas or so, but I think they only play a shorter version of it.

Interestingly enough, the second verse of the German anthem is something like "deutsche trauen, deutsche fraue, deutscher wein, und deutscher sang", which means German loyalty, German women, German wine and German song.

Just as an aside, the 1986 Wembley Queen live version of the UK national anthem is probably the best version of it that will ever be sung/played.

I like the French lyrics to O Canada much better. Much stronger and speaks more about what Canada is than English.
