Gorn Federation

"Do you see what those fools are doing? They live in the past and refuse to accept that the galaxy has changed. We no longer have the Mars Pact backing us up, the Collective is gone, wiped from the face of the galaxy. Do you finaaly understand what I've been tellling you for so long"

"Yes, I do. I don't like it, but your right. The galaxy has changed, and so must we."

"Good. These are hard times, and it will not be easy, but we will force our people to throw off their isolationism and fear of the outside galaxy. We can no longer sit around and hope no one bothers us. The fools have provoked our two powerful neighbors and have us sitting on the edge of disaster."

"And you think you can pull us back from that edge?"

"I know I can and will."

"I hope so. But for now, I need to head home, my mate will be wondering whats happened to me."

"Of course. We can discuss this more later. Good bye."

"Good bye."

"With his support you have removed your biggest potential obstacle, the army will do as he tells thems."

"Of course, just like the fleet will do as I tell them. Your government has agreed to my proposal?"

"Yes, this move by your government has stopped all debate about your propsal. It's a good deal, my governemnt will go along with it when you make your move."
Letter
From: President Weeichmen, UTR
To: Sabine Erfurter, Secretary of State TSC

Madame Secretary,

I and my nation regret the disruption being caused by our recent actions in Klingon space. Though you horribly overstate the importance of the Gorn statement. With the Klingon Blockade already in place, the Gorn-Qu'NoS hyperlane already carries little traffic and the Gorns actions will in reality cause little change in the status quo.

But to be fair the UTR is willing to lower transit fees for TSC vessels crossing the UTR by ten percent to make up for this minor inconvenience.

The UTR respects the rights of the TSC to protect its soveriegnety but I must call to your attention the agreement reached by the Devlys and Von Braun administrations concerning the Gorn. This is clearly an exception in the tradional areas of influence.

We have already developed a non military solution to this problem, and if you will only be patient the problem will be solved shortly.

Respectfully yours,
Joseph Weeichmen

We would be willling to discuss the situation with an uninvolved neutral such as yourself. Ourd emands are simple though. THe UTR is to end its invasion of of the Klingon Empire and the TSC, FSA and IWF must end therir support of the UTRS invasions. The Klingon Empire has been an ally of the Gorn Federation for centuries and we do not forget our friends.

Fresh Offensive Launched

Early yesterday the UTR launched the second phase of its assault into the Klingon Empire. Fifth and Sixth Fleets, striking from the Klingon Perimeter, has hit four Klingon worlds in Task Force strength. Enemy mobile forces in those systems have been destroyed and reports indicate that the UTRN and UTRA are preparing to attack the planets themselves.

Home Fleet has completed its reduction of Qu'Nos orbital defenses and the 32nd Legion is currently disembarking on a beachhead secured by the elite 121st and 534th Strike Divisions. Rumor predicts that the Klingons will attack the beachhead within the day.

Eastern Rim Broadcast News
-A wholly owned subsidiary of the Commonwealth News Network-
January 1, 273 AF

-:TRANSMISSIONSTART:-

"Fenari, Others, Support Gorn Proclamation"

"In what some are referring to as the New Year's Resolution, representatives of 14 polities based in the Cygnus region declared their support for the Gorn Federation. Spearheading this movement, which consists largely of 1-5 system nations, is the Fenari Freehold, one of the few nations to survive the Conflagration. In a meeting on Fenris, ambassadors and heads-of-state of such diverse countries as the Star Collective of Rakshasa, the Patriotic Union of Issat, and the Rzecspospolita Nowy Lwow affixed their signatures to a document affirming the same policies recently adopted by the Gorn Federation. The effects of this document on trade in the region, and particularly on Commonwealth trade, are presumed to be massive. Even SKS shipping is being denied, in response to the participation of elements of the Serenite navy in the recent Klingon campaign.

"This document represents a trend which has been building for years now. The small nations in the Republic remnant want freedom, they don't want to constantly live in fear of Commonwealth or Republican aggression. They see what happened to the Free States Union and the Free Star Alliance, and they fear for themselves. Moreover, they see the joint UTR/TSC/SKS operation in Klingon space, and they think they might be next. This sort of state of affairs can not last forever." Said a senior political analyst from Nowy Lwow in an interview of intellectuals in minor polities.

"The Gorn proclamation is the real catalyst here. Of course, it seemed like political and economic suicide when it was first revealed, but it's now clear that Gorn leaders had something in mind. They must have hoped that in showing spine to the great powers, they'd be able to muster the support of their brother nations. It appears that their calculations were correct." Said a representative of a Commonwealth-based political think-tank.
"It's really shocking how much resentment was bubbling beneath the surface. This overt action against the Klinons brought it to the fore, and the recent Gorn actions gave these small polities the spine to stand together and make their voices heard in protest."

The signature nations of the New Year's Resolution call for the end of aggression in the Klingon Empire, requesting multiparty talks to end the warfare in that nation. The independence of the Gorn Federation and the Fenari Freehold is garuanteed in the bill, though it may be seen as a sign of willingness to compromise that no such garuantee is extended to the Klingon Empire.

SUBJ: The Gorn Proclamation

The Patriarch of Kzin wishes to reiterate his willingness to assist His friends in the resolution of their conflicts. Though His own foreign policy is restrained by His refusal to treat with the uncivilized savages of the galaxy, the Patriarch would be more than pleased to lend His strength to the efforts of the UTR in bringing the wayward barbarians to heel. He regards the actions of the so-called "Gorn Federation" as an intolerable insult and, should His allies in the United Terran Republic request his aid, the fleets of the Patriarchy would rain fire and destruction on the homeworlds of the Gorn until such a time as they were cowed into submission. The power of His armed forces being well known, the Patriarch feels that it may be possible that the mere threat of His entrance into this conflict would be sufficient to divert the barbarian tribes of the Cygnus region from their deluded path.

Breaking News

TNN has recieved unconfirmed reports of fighting on the Gorn homeworld. Reports seem to indicate that Gorn Fleet Marines have attacked the central government building and are engaged in a firefight with the Council Guard. No official statements have been made by anyone within the Gorn Federation. Though there is speculation that this might have to do with the Gorn Federations recent decision to shut its space to vessels flying the flag of the United Terran Republic, Three Suns Commonwealth, Free Star Alliance and Independent Worlds Federation.

Fighting Done on Qu'nos

Today Major General Alfred, CO 34th Legion declared the fighting on Qu'Nos to be over with. Though eh cautioned that this does not mean the planet is secure, it only means that the Klingons have no field armies or fortifactions left. He said that he expects a short period of insurgency by the Klingon population but he is confident that he and the forces under his command can handle it.

Admiral Worthintun when asked about Home Fleets future deployments in the Klingon offensive now that his fleet was no longer needed in the Qu'NoS system only smiled and said "You know I can't tell you about that."

Mssr. President,

The recent events are deeply troubling to myself and my people. Let it be known that the Three Suns Commonwealth is a nation of honor, and that it will stand by it's word. The Commonwealth will never forget the debt incurred in the People's War, and will stand by it's traditional allies in the Galactic Core.

Know that the fleets and soldiers of the Three Suns Commonwealth stands ready to follow the United Terran Republic into any operation deemed necessary. This recent insult will not be brooked, and the Commonwealth's resolve will not falter.

Several large hyperspace communication devices were activated in the system. Normally, the Corporation considered these systems to be primitive compared to their owm quantum communication, but most other nations did rely on it. And for the purpose, they were activated.
Powerful hypercom signals sped throughout the Corporation's territory, intended for the various foreign ships.

Re: Creation of ERTC Enforcement and Explorer divisions

The recent victories against the Pirate groups in the Eastern Rim of the galaxy has shown us that we are stronger when we work together. I now ask the nations of the ERTC to take the next step. I am proposing a joint anti-piracy force, which will be known as the ERTC Enforcement Division. It will be composed of warships from all ERTC member nations. The Enforcement Division will be overseen by a panel of high ranking military officers from all nations of the ERTC. The tasks set to the Enforcement Division will be: Protection of trade convoys, assaults on pirate bases, and, should it be nessecary, military action against the various feifdoms in the Eastern Rim that support these barberous thugs and their violence. Once created, the Enforcement Division will stomp out piracy throughout the Eastern Rim.

I am also casting forth a bill to create another agency within the ERTC. The Explorer division. The Explorer Division will be funded by all member nations, and will seek new trade lanes, which will increase trade in the Eastern Rim. This agency would be controlled directly by the Commission, with no member nation having undue controll, and all members reaping the benefits equally.

The one downside to the Corporate Sector was its position on free trade. Unless there was a specific threat to the Sector, generally the Board turned a blind eye to trade of any sort.

The major corporations, aware of the political situation, wouldn't touch the Gorn directly with a ten-klick pole. However, smaller arms dealers and other such people were under no such compunction. Call them the black market if you will.

Eastern Rim Broadcast News
-A wholly owned subsidiary of the Commonwealth News Network-
January 2, 273 AF

-:TRANSMISSIONSTART:-

"Gorn Government Requests Assistance Against Rebels"

"The leadership of the Gorn Federation recently dispatched a series of messanger vessels to surrounding feifdoms, requesting assistance against the military coup which has erupted in Gorm space. Calling the rebels 'enemies of freedom' and 'shills of the corrupt Terran government,' Loyalist Gorn ambassadors have requested military support from 8 of the largest governments involved in the New Year's Resolution proclaimed just yesterday on Fenris. This movement is hardly surprising, as the rebels seem to control a significant portion of the Gorn fleet. Evidence is sparse at this time, but points to a military coup perpetrated by officers of the very highest rank against the civilian government.

The Fenari were quick to pledge support for the Gorn Government, stating that the affair was a display of cowardice and dishonorable conduct by some members of the Gorn military against their legitimate civilian government.
"These Gorn rebels seek to undermine the honorable and courageous government of the Gorn Federation. A small minority of honorless fops in uniform will not be allowed to dissassemble the prominent heroes of the Gorn nation. The Fenari Freehold will not stand by and allow this disaster to strike our brothers in the Federation!"

Other Resolution members have voiced their support for the Fenari position.

Whether or not military force will be deployed as well is still up for debate, but the vicious rhetoric which the Klingon incident has spurred suggests that such support is likely. Analysts claim that the recent decleration of support by the major feifdom off Shoom has granted the Resolution members even more reason to show backbone as larger and more powerful nations offer support for their cause.

Avalon Prime, Avalon system

The message caused some more disturbances in the Datasphere than the first seconds of it would have warranted.
Calculations were done, probability projections, and a decision was made.
Tranquility would be executed, at least for a limited portion and a safeguard.
The capital city had been constructed to fulfil one final function centuries ago.
Patterning nodes slowly awoke deep within Stuart Plaza, generators sprung to life. The lights in the city began flickering as the nodes used up most of the power while loading. Bodies went into cold sleep, parts of the city not able to make it were jettisoned.
Finally, the nodes were fully charged. Long-standing calucations were put into effect and the nodes started tweaking at space time. And suddenly, with a gravitic ripple that could be registered throughout most of the quadrant, the former floating city was gone, sent away as a lifeboat of their society, a journey that would take centuries of subjective time.

Clones of the left people were created, and would replace them.
TheCorporation felt prepared should that Corsair republic truly come knocking. Even more so now that they knew the society would survive, even if they didn't.
And if it was just a bluff, no one's hurt and they would go down fighting to their last breath, physical and virtual.

While the Stuartians prepared for their doom, the first vanguard of the Corsairs were already there. Not obvious warships or powered-armour marines, though. But Psykkers. Hidden amongst the huge population, a thousand Psykkers began their work.

It started in the Datasphere, of course, as mind's projected virtually were manipulated carefully. It starts as differences of opinion on the coming trouble. A little argument here, a few insults there. Unnoticable from the normal interactions.

As hours began to tick down, flamewars were erupting in cyberspace...

Of course, some Psykkers were lost when the Capital vanished. Not even Stuartian defenses could keep people out if those monitoring the systems didn't respond to sirens. But the Psykkers, cut off from the Republic, would reshape the lifeboat of civilization. In ten million years, life would be very different indeed..

But tomorrow, it would be much the same.

Capital of Gorn Federation

General Issthan snarled softly has he looked at the map. The rebels had had total surprise and it showed. However he had managed to stabilize the front lines and get the threather shields up and running, denying them any orbital support. He suppose it was sheer luck that he had managed so much, luckly the two jr officers who attempted to kill him were clumsy, he had killed them with his bare claws.

greetings General

"What!?!" General Isstan spun looking around wildly for the voice that had addressed, only to find nothing but his guards.

Relax General, have you never experienced Psionic Contact Before? Simply think your response and I shall hear it.

General Isstan growled, and replied silitently.

"Who are you, why do you dare to communicate in such a fashion?"

I am a representive of a power interested in aiding your government in dealing with this rebellion. For the moment I am forced to make contact like this, be assured it is not my first choice, but the situation has forced my hand. I am here to offer you aide general, money, weapons and so forth. Will you take it?

The repitlian general pondered quietly for a moment. He disliked dealing with unseen forces but saw little choice if he was to put down this cowardly rebellion.

Yes. The answer came swiftly

Excellent, I will now send you the location of a safe meeting ground, you may send a representive or go yourself. Your contact will make himself know through the use of the word... Buttercup.

Approximately eleven seconds later, an expanding cloud of plasma stands as a swiftly-cooling hint to the surrendering warships to stay put.
