People of Gorn. I am Supreme Admiral Fresstan. Today Marines operating under my command seived the central government building. I did not take these actions lightly but out of dire necessity. This council and its speaker have lost touch with reality and my sense of duty could not allow them to destroy this great nation which I have long served.
My fleet, operating in conjunction with the army, under Supreme Marshall Dexxtrus command has placed the High Council and all of the planetary councils under arrest.
The time has come for reform. We can not alllow a cabal of old men with no consent from the people they are supposed to serve to lead us into ruinination. I intend to introduce a massive restructering of our government to make it fair adn to better provide for our citizens. No longer will our councilman serve for life, we will palce the power to choose our next speaker in the hands of the people instead of the in the claws of the High Council.
But we can not do this in a day, or even a month. It will take time, and until this nation is ready to choose its leaders Marshall Dextruss and I will form a Provisionsal Leadership Council to safeguard our nation from those who fear freedom for all our people.

The Gorn Federation thanks the Solidarity for its support but the Provisional Leadership Council will not need your assistance in defeating those who oppose the liberty of the Gorn people. We would also like to state that any foreign warship entering Gorn space without the permision of the Provisional Leadership Council is commiting an act of war with the Gorn Federation.
Lots of action on the Klingon front today. Reports are in that four Legions have landed on the four Klingon worlds attacked by the task forces of Fifth and Sixth Fleets.
Reports from the Navy Department also states that Task Forces 22, 23, 12 and 13 have struck at four more worlds in Klingon Space. Reports are also in that Admiral Worthintun has split Home Fleet into four Task Forces and has hit four additonal Klingon systems.

UTR Recognizes Provisional Leadership Council
In a surprising move today President Weeichmen formally recognized the legitimacy of the Gorn Provisional Leadership Council, saying "The UTR has a long history of helping the people of the galaxy form free and fair governments and we can do no less in this case." The State Department acknowledged that it is sending a delegation to meet with the PLC, but refused to discuss it beyond that.

Prime Minister Glin today relased a statement regarding the recent "New Years Resolution" and its attacks on the UTR and our Free Star Alliance.
"They say they are afraid of becoming like our nation. Are they afraid of having one of the highest standards of living in the local area? Are they afraid of quadrapling there GNP in only a handful of decades? Are they afraid of having a freely elected democratic government?
Because to me, and most likely you as well, none of these are bad things. Yes we owe our existence as a nation to the UTR, and I for one am grateful to them for helping us create this nation. Thats right helping us create this nation, because thats what they did, they helped us. They didn't manipulate us or decieve us, they helped us.
And in the tradition of the UTRs assitance to us I offer our assistance to the Gorn Provisional Leadership Council in creating a free and prosperous nation."

We call upon all free star nations to join us in the support of the true Council and General Isstan, leader of the Loyalist forces, as ordered by the legitimate Council of Gorn.
We offer our sincerest thanks to the Solidarity of Shoom, their pledge of force is a shining example, to which we will adhere with strength and honor.
The Fenris Resolution offers it's full support to the Loyalist forces. Warships from our many navies are travelling to relieve General Isstan, and free those members of the Council that were unable to escape Admiral Fresstan's grasp. A stand must be made, and the stand will be made now, in the Gorn Federation. We can not fail with Right behind us!

"We, the 16 councilbeings of the Council of Gorn, stand before you today the leaders of a nation betrayed. Three Standard days ago, our duly elected government was overthrown by the sudden and brutal actions of Admiral Fresstan and General Dexxtrus. Rogue military officers, presumably benefitting from foreign support, betrayed the elected government of our nation, capturing most of our comrades at gunpoint. It was only the last-moment actions of a small cadre of loyalists which stopped this atrocity against Democracy from taking place.
The recent actions of the nations of the Fenris Resolution and the Solidarity of Shoom are in the defense of democracy and sovreignity. We, the representatives of the people of Gorn, raise our voices and fists against the powers that would blast this.
The United Terran Republic says it will treat with General Dexxtrus and Admiral Fresstan's traitors and rebels as if they were the duly elected leaders of the Federation of Gorn. This "Provisional Leadership Council," held at gunpoint and placed in power by Dexxtrus' troops after storming our great council, is a sham and a crime against the freedom of the Gorn people. We decry the United Terran Republic and her puppets as criminals, and false bearers of the standard of rule of, for, and by the people. To them, we spit on their promises of greater standard of living and other such foolishness. They promise us the same peace and standard of living they are now giving the Klingons, as their legions storm the halls of Qo'nos? For the free men and women of Gorn, that is no standard of living!
Glory to the great Federation of Gorn! May she ever be the strongest, and her claws ever free of chains!

Guest Editorial How the Gorn Councils Work Professor Jan Desmon, University of Mars
Right now both sides of the Gorn conflict is trying to present itself as the defender of liberty and democracy. So which one is telling the truth? To figure that out first you need to understand how the Gorn Council system works.
The basis of the Gorn Council System is the Planetary Council. The members of the Planetary Council are elected by popular vote. Most of you are reading this now and going, 'then the Council of Gorn is the one tellling the truth,' but not so fast.
There's one very important fact that the CoG doesn't like to include when speaking about its democratic elections. These Councilman are elected for life and new elections are only held when a Councilman dies.
And its also open to debate on how "free" these elections are. Gorn political life is dominated by masive political machines controlled by the sitting councils. If a current council doesn't want some one to be elected to the council they probably won't be elected. If you want to win election to a council without the support of that council you face a long arderous uphill battle. Very few people manage to do so. And even once they're elected they stand no chance of being selected for a higher office.
Beyond the level of the Planetary Council you have the Council of Gorn. Each Planetary Council chooses one of its members to join this High Council. Once selected this person is then a member of the High Council for the remainder of there life, or until they choose to retire.
Finally we come to the position of Speaker of the Gorn Federation. How is this man chosen that will be the ruler of the Gorn Federation for the rest of his life? He's elected, by the Council of Gorn, from within the council.
What this means is that the ruler of the Gorn Federation faced a general election exactly once in his life. And that lection was tos erve as a regional representative on a planetary governing body. Beyond that level the people of Gorn have little to no control on the actions of the government.
So what about the Provisional Leadership Council? Right now its too early to see if they're just mouthing platitudes or if they mean what they say about holding free, and regular, elections. So far though signs are good that they mean what there saying.
At present the Council consists of Admiral Fresstan and General Dexxtrus of course but it also has three former planetary council members elected against the wishes of the sitting councils on a reform platform. It also consists of the leaders of the outlawed Gorn Liberation Party, Gorn Freedom Alliance and Gorn Liberty League.
It is not the military dictatorship that the Council of Gorn is trying to present it as. But it still remains to be seen if the Provisional Leadership Council can live up to the ideals they claim to stand for.

The South may rise again, but the North will just kick their asses... again.
The two forces closed extraordinarily quickly, due solely to the Combine's decision to put no effort into decelerating anything other than the carriers. Fighters spat from those carriers in near-continuous streams, rapidly shaking down into combat formation as they caught up with the escort swarm lunging recklessly ahead.
A single word preceded the juggernaught, "Surrender". The Shi felt that any embellishment would be purely superfluous, as the consequences of refusal should be blatantly obvious to the recipients.
Unfortunately for the pirates, due to misplaced confidence, panic, or a sure and certain knowledge of their existence in a shoot on sight database, many of the eclectic group did not obey the simple instruction. As a result, the Combine vessels took it upon themselves to disable any enemy that even twitched.

"Interdictors coming on line now admiral, Tracking reports the correlation of forces is in our favor. Enemy escorts outnumber ours, and they have cruiser hull parity, but they are limited to four heavies, two battlecruisers, a fleet carrier, and a dreadnaught. The enemy is also in severe disarray, and has not yet achieved full battle readiness."
"Hit there carriers immediately, have the fifth gunboat squadron punch a hole through there picket screen" The Admiral ordered in response.
In the Holotank, four friendly icons leapt ahead of the rest of the formation formation, shedding swarms of munitions as they went. Even as the main fleet closed the majority of the remaining distance, the four gunboats merged on the plot with a group of five assorted pirate escort craft, still launching heavy torpedos as they went. The cataclysm of the two forces meeting proved impossible for the fleet's sensors to penetrate for a brief moment, when it cleared, a single gunboat trailing debris was still inbound from the eight rapidly spreading wreckage fields. Its headlong plunge lasted mere seconds past the demise of its companions, as it hit a pirate light cruiser head-on with a combined closing velocity greater than c.
This event proved to be even more of an 'Oh Shit!' epiphany for the pirates than the arrival of a fleet ready and able to kick their asses. The fact that thousands of fighters were pouring through the gap, even as the two screens engaged in more conventional battle throughout a hemisphere of space only emphasized the Pirates' position.
In a nearly unthinkable gesture of compassion, the Combine's demand to surrender was repeated, and elaborated upon: "Cut everything except life support, and you don't die now."
Even before receiving this demand, many of the pirates had chosen to do just that. Even so, a solid core of hardened space-scum continued in their efforts to fight their way clear of the growing nightmare.
_____________________
It would be difficult for a casual observer to discern the fact that the inbound fighter strike was practically a scratch group shaking itself down on the fly. But the nearly undetectable errors in spacing seemed to burn themselves into Strike Captain Curtis's eyes, even as he issued his final terse orders, "Carriers and Heavies first, then targets of opportunity.
Don't engage inactive targets".
The hole in the pirates' defensive shell helped, as did the surprise that the hapless space vermin were still shaking off. This didn't prevent the pirates from trying their hardest to live, and despite the best efforts of the decoy missiles the fleet had launched to cover them, and the fatalistic willingness of the drone AI's to suck away fire from the biological pilots they existed to shield, regular pilots and even Dragons began to die.
Layers of decoys and EW missiles were stripped off of the formation as they thundered past the cruiser screen, and heavy defensive fire from the capital ships and carriers tore through fighter after fighter. The CSP that the more professional pirate captains had maintained, along with what fighters had been able to clear the bays in the brief time the attack had taken desperately interposed themselves, only to be shredded almost as an afterthought by the Combine forces that cut through them.
At this point, the pirate carrier's had a hellish decision to make, whether to continue launching fighters and leave themselves vulnerable, or to keep the remaining fighters in their bays and desperately hope to ride out the onslaught. Individual commanders made their own decision, adding to the confusion of the disunited defenders.
An unholy conflagration was unleashed as the attackers dumped their ordnance into the enemy with malicious glee. Those carriers still attempting to launch had cause to regret their decision immediately, as torpedo salvos streaked into their bays despite the best efforts of their point defense, often followed by Combine fighters caught up in the madness of battle. Immediately on the heels of the missiles came the fighter themselves, firing beam weapons all out of proportion to their size.
It would prove little to no comfort to the pirates if they knew the method that the Combine had bypassed the normal difficulty of making fighter beam weaponry a threat to anything larger than an escort. For all intents and purposes, each of those beams was fired by a giant single shot bomb, generated by collapsed matter deliberately destabilised and channeled by the strategic placement of stasis fields. The weapon as yet required a fighter sized power plant to work effectively, and as such was impossible to use in anything but the heaviest ship-board missiles.
When the fighters broke past the pirate's barely a third of their number remained, including all of two drone fighters that had been buffeted by proximity detonations and unable to achieve a vector to ram. Behind them their targets lay in burning disarray, half of the carriers gone, one of the Battlecruisers a broken wreck, and all of the survivors bleeding air. This state of affairs lasted exactly long enough for the second wave of fighters to overrun them, ruthlessly crushing all remaining resistance.
Strike Captain 'Kamikaze' Curtis was not with them to comment, his bird having taken a crippling hit and smashing directly into one of the BC's command decks.
As the fleet moved to place the pirates who had declined to display a death wish under its guns, the fleet train translated out well behind them, and beggan launching assault shuttles to take possession of the cobbled together, but massive, pirate base.

The Sabai are aware of the increasing tensions throughout various areas of the galaxy over the last few weeks. The problems within the Stuart Corporation have been noticed as is the history of the nation as a whole. It is not our policy to dictate to another nation what outlook they should possess, although many within and without our nation are keenly aware of the repercussions such outlooks may arouse.
The possibility of another major conflict in the galaxy is not one to be taken lightly, however, while we are concerned by the possibility we are unwilling at this time to take drastic steps to try and address those concerns. Your desire to annex the Stuart Corporation is noted, and while we feel that such an act may be counter productive to your goals. We of the Sabai are well aware that might of arms, is the sole arbiter for a nation’s right to exist.
Your offer a non-interference pact shall be considered. However, it must be noted that fairly recently the Sabai and the Stuart Corporation have made strides in deepening relations. The ties which bind us are still fresh, and your words have merit. However, we cannot offer any guarantees at this time. Your words shall be considered and all possibilities shall be explored.
Sabai Territory
Zer`liam System
The Zer`liam system was the home base for the entirety of the fourth Sabai fleet. The fourth fleet possessed twenty five percent of the entire Sabai navy, a potent mixture of one hundred and thirty one warships led by the Ahriman class dreadnought SNS Messenger of Fear. The fourth fleet had been recalled when the stirrings within Stuart space had been caught by the Sabai embassy in anticipation of foul play. The entire fleet hovered silently in the void a mere fifteen light seconds away from the primary planet in the system. Around them, hundreds of transports ferried munitions and drones into the awaiting warships.
The Fourth Fleet was not the only one being mobilized, the third fleet based in the Laaen system was also being gathered. The first and second fleets were on a heightened state of alert, but it was not believed that they would rally forth since their task was to guard Sabai space and their twin homes. Even as the Sabai ruling council considered which path to take, the third and fourth fleet orders arrived. The fourth rallied first, its one hundred and thirty one vessels turning as one and disappearing into the embrace of hyperspace. Its final destination was still undecided, but one way or another they would have a roll to play in the coming hours.
In the depths of Indas, another force stirred but this one was bound and chained to that world through a staggering and impressive array of equipment. Twenty five minds chained and bound, weaved together into a singular whole. The Eye of the Sabai slid open, exploring the possibilities which laid before it as easily as a hunter stalked its prey in an open field. A singular path, that which bore with it the greatest promise was found and picked. The ruling council was informed. A decision was made.

As one of the westernmost powers remaining from the pre-war days, we in the Corporate Sector have noticed with some concern the current developments in Stuart Corp. space. As we import and distribute a number of goods from the Stuart Corporation, we feel that our commercial interests have been placed at stake. We are currently negotiating with the Stuartian authorities regarding the stability of the region. While the the content of the negotiations remains proprietary, we feel that as one of the nearby powers you are entitled to know that we will not encroach on Stuartian sovereignity unless forced to do so by an outside threat.
Depending on the results of the negotiations we may be prepared to offer you a favorable trade deal in exchange for your cooperation during these hard times. Such a trade deal would allow goods from your nation to reach far-flung sectors of the galaxy at little to no cost to your own manufacturers.
Desperate times demand desperate measures. And Consensus knew it.
Contacts within the Sabai had revealed the Corsair plan to them. The ties with the Sabai were still fresh, so they might not take the offer.
Still, the Corporation was slightly irritated.
Protocols, dormant for millenia, were activated. No other nation came close to the sophistication and efficiency of Stuartian computer nets. Every raw computation power was activated, used, fueled into the one Consensus, a group mind of more than 300 billion Stuartians and AIs. Billions of semi-sentient and sentient AIs and minds watched over the Datapshere, readying themselves for a fierce fight, observation and offensive programs were armed, firewalls partioned the Datasphere even further than it already was. Anyone trying to break in would find themselves in a very hostile environment.
The whole transportation system, ships, transports, gates, were shut down as to disallow anyone travel.
The cities were activating their powerful shields and weapons were readied. Orbital weapons platforms were activated.
Whoever came knocking would find himself in for a fight. They might lose, but they would fight to the last man, go down in flames and destroy themselves than to fall into the hands of the enemy.

The fourth fleet received new orders in transit towards their final destination. The orders were received and passed to the rest of the fleet, as the fleet moved via hyperspace towards its destination. A course change was ordered, the fleet moving as one as their destination shifted from Avalon Prime, the home system of the Stuart Corporation to where the Corsair assets were believed to be presently located. The exact strength of the Corsair assets was nebulous, but the fourth fleet knew its job and it would carry it out to the best of its ability.
The transit time passed quickly, every mind within the fleet keenly aware of what obstacles laid before them. The Corsair Republic was a powerful force, believed to be the most powerful single navy outside of the Entente nations. Sabai records about the Corsairs were numerous, extending back to the time when they were called the Black Alliance. The Indashani had lived in their shadow, and had dealt with them militarily and otherwise for quite some time. Those Indashani records were necessary study for naval officers and enlisted men in the various naval academies.
Five minutes before their transit back into real space, each Sabai warship was as silent as a tomb. The minds of the personnel within intensely focused on their jobs. There was no doubt that at these ranges, it was likely that the Corsairs knew that they were coming. Nonetheless, it was something that could be taken into account and prepared for. As the time to transition counted down, naval officers in the armored bridges at the hearts of each warships took deep breaths and prepared themselves for what was to come.
Space twisted and contorted beneath the transition of one hundred and thirty one warships. The Sabai fourth fleet had arrived, their sensor systems immediately probed space, finding the Corsair task force and sharing the information with the fleet. An icy chill ran down the spines of several commanding officers when the mammoth shapes of three Psychopath class battleships were revealed spear heading the Corsair fleet. The fourth fleet maneuvered a mere handful of light seconds away from interdictor range. They had after all no firm numbers on the enemy force, and while the entire Corsair fleet was not present, the numbers game was far from rosy.
The Sabai fleet formation was an interesting one, incorporating knowledge gained from the Indashani in their efforts to combat the Black Alliance. Improvements to the Indashani naval doctrines had been made, the fourth presenting few openings to some of the more traditional tactics which the Black Alliance had been known for performing in the past. Weapons were charged, missile tubes at the ready, but no active targeting took place. A channel opened from the Sabai flagship to the Corsair fleet.
”I am admiral Cassandra Nureis of the Sabai fourth fleet. We are here to stand by the Stuart Corporation and protect its sovereignty. We have no desire to fight you, but we will if we must. The situation within Stuart space will be dealt with promptly through internal channels. If you are here to offer your support for these internal measures, and are purely concerned about the apparent crisis within Stuart space, then I am sure that we can come to an arrangement that will satisfy all sides. Nonetheless, the Sabai and the Stuart Corporation are allies. We will not stand idly by while a foreign nation, threatens the sovereignty and freedom of our friends.”
