Lightsaber... Progressive Knife from NGE. I think there was something from Ringworld by Larry Niven, but I forgot it's name.

Heat rod from several Gundam series. Can be used to slice, whip, or grapple. Very useful.

Technically, it's a shield, but when it's activated, anything inside the sphere is inside the sphere, and anything outside the sphere is outside the sphere. There is no in-between.

OF course, you need to aim the thing carefully (never hit the ground) or set it to the lowest setting possible. Otherwise you might find the planet you stood on get blown apart.
