Star Forge vs Centerpoint station
I have heard the Star Forge can build thousands of ships from the Force, from the Dark side. What would happen if Centerpoint station fired upon it with its uber weapon of doom? Would it survive, would it be destroyed?

Re: Star Forge vs Centerpoint station
I know very little of Center station, but I think that the Starforge wouldn't survive (spoiler)the Starforge was destroyed when a Republic fleet damaged it badly it lost orbit and crashed into a star (the KOTOR light side ending)(end spoiler)Dark Primus wrote:I have heard the Star Forge can build thousands of ships from the Force, from the Dark side. Centerpoint station destroyd an entire fleet of Yuuzhan Vong and Hapan ships, so yes it would be destroyed.

It draws components for construction out of the star it orbits, so the amount of metal at its disposal is unbelievably large. It could probably build millions or billions of starships given the practically endless energy supply provided by the Dark Side of the Force.

Damn, that does sound bad ass. Too bad the Sith couldn't keep their hands on it, they might have beaten the Old Republic.

It draws raw materials and energy from a star. So the limits would flow from how much energy and material it could draw from the source.18-Till-I-Die wrote:A little off topic, but how many ships can the Star Forge build? Is it infinite, can it build just thousands or millions, just how useful is this thing?

Well (spoiler)If you win the Darkside ending of KoTOR the final movie is called 'the infinite fleet' and there are literally too many ships to count(end Spoiler)
id say centerpoint would turn the starforge into much slag.

For those who've gone through most of the dialog in KOTOR 2, you'll know that Revan considered the Star Forge only a temporary measure and was not prepared to use it indefinitely, hence his protection of galactic infrastructure in comparison to the foolish Malak who took his place

It also has the handy effect of boosting the Dark Side force powers of whoever currently controls it. Of course, there's the small issue of it deliberately fostering hate and violence among those who use it, which is why the original builders vanished (their empire was destroyed by civil war).18-Till-I-Die wrote:So in other words...extremely useful?Illuminatus Primus wrote:It draws components for construction out of the star it orbits, so the amount of metal at its disposal is unbelievably large. Centerpoint station can make stars go nova from light years away, is bigger than the original Death Star, has no weak point, and can wipe out a fleet in a split second in almost any location in the galaxy.Petrosjko wrote:Star Forge- Hovers above star. Can be destroyed by conventional weapons.

Centerpoint wins.
There is no competition to Centerpoint short of the Death Star (if the DS got lucky and hyperspaced before CP shot it).

Yes. Alas for the Galaxy, Jacen was still in his whiney bitch phase and convinced Anikin that it was an 'agressive dark side' action. In defiance of logic and his own actions...and ignoring the fact that he isn't exactly a Jedi Master.Shinova wrote:So the Republic does use Centerpoint against the Vong?
Anikan (who the system imprinted on in the Corellian trilogy) with his honed Force abilities KNEW that he could fire Centerpoint and wipe out the Vong fleet attacking the Fondor shipyards and not hit anything else. But he listned to Jacen and let go of the Joystick, refusing to fire (and sacrificing billions of people as a result) ... but Thrakan Sal Solo then jumped up and said if Anikin refused to fire it that HE WOULD. And yanked the firing joystick himself.
Centerpoint fired, but without Anikin directing it preciscly, it only hit half the Vong fleet (and vaporised them)....but wipped out 3/4 of the entire Hapian fleet.

Well, doesn't Centerpoint have a long charge-up time? With luck, the DS could dodge a blast they get close and tear Centerpoint apart (since it has one big gun but no other weapons).Praxis wrote:Centerpoint station can make stars go nova from light years away, is bigger than the original Death Star, has no weak point, and can wipe out a fleet in a split second in almost any location in the galaxy.Petrosjko wrote:Star Forge- Hovers above star. I seem to recall Centerpoint (along with the Corellian planets?) being able to put into place a system-wide interdiction field in the Corellian trilogy. Forcing the Death Star to approach with it's limited sub-light speed means that Centerpoint can play pinball with the Death Star while it remains out of reach.Lone_Prodigy wrote:Well, doesn't Centerpoint have a long charge-up time? Oh yeah, that...
Damn, I forgot all about that. Okay, officially Centerpoint would make the Death Star it's bitch.

Yeah, but Centerpoint usually stays charged. It only has to recharge after firing.Lone_Prodigy wrote:Well, doesn't Centerpoint have a long charge-up time? So it really depends on who gets the first shot. And if Centerpoints armor and shields (Did it have them? Been a while since I read the Corellian trilogy) can withstand a DS blast?

But who needs a planet destroying blast? Centerpoint should play pinball with its planet-moving, star-destroying repulsor. It'd be hilarious to see the DS bouncing off planets and finally landing in Corellian star

The interdiction field wasn't original to Centerpoint IIRC, it was added technology (it was simply needed Centerpoint's reactor to power it.) Centerpoint was capable of tractoring Earthlike planets across vast distances (a sustained feat, but one which is EASILy comparable to a planet-destroying feat, quite probably comparable to the DS1's power generation.)
Moreover, the "FTL" characteristics of this method gives the station considerably greater offensive range than the Death Star, so its quite likely for Centerpoint to wipe out the Death Star.

IIRC, Centerpoint Station wasn't built by the Republic. It was built by some mysterious ancient civilization, who used it to move all the planets into the Corellian system. Centerpoint is unarmed, aside from it's repulsor, but when you can induce supernovae in stars across the galaxy, you really don't need anything else. If the Death Star could get close, I suspect Centerpoint wouldn't be able to withstand a direct hit. The problem is getting the Death Star close enough to fire. Whatever it's range, Centerpoint vastly outdistances it. You'd have to jump in right next to Centerpoint and hope they have to reorient it before they can fire or else you're galactic goo.

Centerpoint Station is approximately at least a million years old (that was about when the Corellian System was created with the device), for the record. The unknown civilisation is called the "Hyperspace Aliens" by some, and are theorised to be also responsible for the Maw black hole cluster, and could possibly have a connection with the ancient Sharu civilisation as well (which would extend their influence by about three billion years).Vicious wrote:IIRC, Centerpoint Station wasn't built by the Republic.
