Thank You! I hate dubbing voice overs. It camps up a movie that should be taken seriously. I hate camp in seious movies.
Voice overs sometimes change the plot around. It changes the "feel" of the movie. And they usually jack up the music too. Some of the HK movies have cool fight scenes that make your heart beat. But when they are changed to voice over they often leave out the music, which really sets the mood.

So THAT'S why those movies have horrible sound. I always thought it was just craptacular sound. But that weird music in anime is inexcusable, IMO.

That weird bright and cheery music with people singing in Japanese when they are fighting, which completely contradicts the mood. That's just bad music selections. That'd be like Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker fighting to "Don't Worry, Be Happy."

Examples?

I can't accept such a generic statement.

Basically any fight scene in Sailor Moon, and a bunch of other things I have no idea about that my cousin, an anime junkie, watches. That's about as specific as I can get, lol.

Well, it's been ages since Sailor Moon's been on, but from what I can remember from Super S, the cheery music occurs when they unleash the ultimate attacks.

At least they finally did after they got away from DiC.

So there really is no excuse for it, right? Are you agreeing with me or what?

No, I'm not.

It's part of the theme.

Bah. Then I pass it off as one of the worst themes possible for TV shows. :P

I know some of the themes that would pop up in the Gundam series between Mobile Suit and Wing (even Wing suffers from this) is that wierd ass music they play. Some fucking campy sounding sing along.

Damn Spank Mizer, I ain't sayin' shit bout no motha fucking score to the MSG series. While the cartoon it's sizelf was far from good, the music is the shiznit compared to the crizap that is the rest of the Gundam series.

YES! THAT'S the other thing that escaped my mind! The stupid Gundam music. SUCKS! However, I like that Cowboy Bebop music...and I remember a blatant ripoff of Mozart in one of my cousin's anime movie....not completely biased you know...lol.
