I didn't mind the Chocobo goodness in FF7. But after a while, breeding was immeasurably boring.
I spent a week making my golden bird. I was doing things to beak the tedium occasionally, but it's still a week.

That we dying younger hiding from the police man over there
Just for breathing in the air they wanna leave me in the chair
Electric shocking body rocking beat streeting me to death"

I've played FF5 and FF6, so I haven't experienced the dreaded Chocobo Breeding. All I know is that Chocobos are nice for riding on, avoiding random encounters on the overworld map, and incorporating into attacks like "Chocobop". I'm not kidding: Chocobop.
I want, just once, to see a giant cavalry made up entirely of moogles riding chocobos.

Just because something is awesome when it's done by Miyazaki doesn't mean that it would be awesome when anyone else does it. Remember that, unlike most people working in the various entertainment media, Miyazaki actually has talent.Vendetta wrote:I want to see a protracted mounted engagement on Chocobos.
Because there's one in Nausicaa, and it's quite thoroughly awesome, but the movie only covers up to the end of the first 'perfect collection' book, and it happens in the second..

There were the Chocobo Knights in FFX, the cutscene of their fight with the sinspawn on the beach was great...but we all know how that turned out. A well deserved fate for those fucking birds.

Indeed it was. There was one scene where two knights held down a Sin Spawn while another stabbed it. I liked that.Darth Fanboy wrote:There were the Chocobo Knights in FFX, the cutscene of their fight with the sinspawn on the beach was great...but we all know how that turned out. I remember when Uts first performed that. Back when he first played the game in High School over spring break 1999 or such, borrowing it, a PSX, and a players guide from a friend. It was fairly early on in the game, still on the first part of the mainland of Disc One, I think. He was playing while I was looking through the guide (which was absolutely fantastic: it was based on an English beta so it still had a couple of things ended up getting removed (which they indicated might happen) and covered absolutely everything down to the smallest detail, but without spoiling or telling a single point of the story or plot; I've never seen it since, though) and came across the entry for the Chocobo and Mog summon. I read about the chance of Fat Chocobo occuring and asked "Hey James, have you ever see-" when he suddenly shouts "Fat Chocobo!" as it occurs on the screen.Captain Cyran wrote:I would cast that summon late in the game just for the hope of seeing that fat bastard...Aya wrote:Chocobo racing was fun, as was summoning a fat chocobo to sit on your enemies.
That was kind of a weird experience.
EDIT: Doing a little investigating online, I think it may have been The Completely Unauthorised Final Fantasy VII Ultimate Guide from Versus Books. Aparently it's somewhat rare nowadays...
I believe in a sign of Zeta.

"And besides, who cares if a monster destroys Australia?"
I had that. It's how guides should be - it's written entertainingly and has great original artwork, and zero spoilers like you said, despite being considerably thinner and cheaper than the official guide. I hope my mom didn't throw it away when I went off to college. I could probably hawk it on eBay for a hefty fee but I like it too much.EDIT: Doing a little investigating online, I think it may have been The Completely Unauthorised Final Fantasy VII Ultimate Guide from Versus Books. I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

that being said, along with what I did to them in my Fallout parody for ASVS, (never let a chapter go buy without killing or eating at leastone)
I do prefer them to say, Pokemon, or neopets.
