What video game have you wasted the most of you life on?
Moderator: Thanas
FFX, godless, the amount of time I spent on that, making sure everyone had their Celestial Weapons (the dodging lightning for LuLu was bitch) and had Ribbon, Break HP Limit, Auto-Haste and Auto-Phoenix on their armor was crazy. I played that game for like a year before I decided I was ready to fight Penance. Only ever managed to beat the bastard once.
And I may bitch about it something awful, but even compaired to FFX, I have wasted HUGE amounts of time on Star Wars Galaxies, over a year now I've been playing that damn game and from day 1 it caused problems, had to buy new graphics card, more RAM, had to get a Saitek X45 (beautiful HoTaS system that) when JtL came out, urgh, makes me tired just thinking of all the hassle, still, met some cool people in game, so it makes ok...nearly.

Oh man. When I play Rome: Total War, I find myself looking at the clock knowing it's time to turn it off, but only "one more turn" always pop into my mind and it's always ten turns later do I shut it!Stravo wrote:*snip* And you think...one more turn.
I probably wasted most of my life playing Rebellion. Taking over and putting mines and refineries on uninhabited planets and building a couple good sized fleets and trying to name them was a pain in the butt.
But I have a good feeling Rome is going to take over Rebellion this summer...
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Morrowind and its expansion. Dear lart, killing nearly every NPC and getting away with it takes a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time. And lets just put it like this, any guild or organization I was a part of? I ran it. Any Daedra that wanted me to help em? I did (goldbrand ROCKS!). And in the end? Vivec himself fell beneath my blade.
The South may rise again, but the North will just kick their asses... again.irishmick79 wrote:Gun Bunnies should, under no circumstances, be given access to the force.

Of the contenders
1. Knights of the Old Republic: Beat it 27 times. Literally did every conciveable thing, and still replayed it.
2. Morrowind and expansions: Vivec and gang were all blowing me long and hard by the end of my rampage towards true divinity.
3. Final Fantasy 6: I got every single one of Gau's rages. Forget doing straight 99 level with 9999 HP and 999MP with absurd stats because of using really low levels then uber leveling. Getting all of monkey boys rages took real time. Kefka died in a span of seconds that I barely knew. Not even Sephy died so poorly.
4. World of Warcraft: I don't know...and it doesn't look like it's stopping. So far I've done a Rogue(fun but got a bit nutty trying to find a group), a Mage (Not bad...but quit around level 30), and so far Paladin(outlandish defense...shittiest offense...but every fucking group wants one.)
In reality, Morrowind likely wins the normal booby prize with WoW catching up easily.

Amen to that (no pun intended). I still spend hours playing the damn thing, taking the Portuguese people into conquering all!Stormbringer wrote:(snip)I don't think there is a Civ player out there that doesn't know exactly that feeling.
*sigh*
Diablo I and II (LoD included) as well. Passed many hours back then playing it in both SP and MP...
I also pass a lot of time with Neverwinter Nights and the mods being released constantly.
And, ultimately, I think Counter Strike: Source is making its way to the top as well.

I'd say FF7.
I have a short attention span, but this game just held me like it was a gorilla lookng for love. There was no escape, though it was satisfying.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. I played it during any free time I had for at least a week straight.
Total Annihilation. I haven't played it recently, because I can't seem to find my multiplayer disc so I can play skirmish mode. It has been installed continuously since I got it around release time.
X-Wing Alliance. I haven't played it recently because it doesn't seem to like something about my video card (even though another guy on the XWA Upgrade forums has the same card, and it works wonderfully for him). It also has been installed since day one.
Half-Life. I've played through it so many times (at least 50), I could probably tell you the precise layout of any area of the Black Mesa facility. It's never been uninstalled since release day, but I did switch from the WON version to the Steam version. Strangely, there is one bug that was introduced in Steam and has not yet been fixed. If you hit a corpse with your crowbar, it does a sort of rapid-fire thing that ends up gibbing any corpse, even an ichthyosaur, in less than a second.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Let's put it this way: I know my way around Vice City better than my own town.
On that note, I can't wait for the PC version of San Andreas. With an entire state to play with, I'm sure I'll be at it for quite some time.
Pokemon Silver and Ruby. The only two I've played, and I have around 200 hours of combined playtime.

Long ago in a distant land, I, Aku, the shape-shifting Master of Darkness, unleashed an unspeakable evil,
but a foolish samurai warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose me. Before the final blow
was struck, I tore open a portal in time and flung him into the future, where my evil is law! Now, the fool
seeks to return to the past, and undo the future that is Aku...

Its a tossup between Descent and Freespace2.

Madden, every single one of them since 01. My goal with every one of them has been to have the Bengals win three consecutive superbowls, with at least one undefeated season mixed in there. Luckily its been getting a lot easier with the newer ones, it used to be near impossible with some of the old bengals teams.

Definetily Morrowind - I've sunk more time into that than I can make any possible conjecture on, and I havn't even managed to get my self named Horator by all three houses yet. At least five games started, the first being the generic probe game to see how things are, and the next four being exparaments in character designs and attempts to create the ultimate twink character (my latest was on such a road, but that damn Orc mage in the Balmora guild fell through the floor, so I had to start again.
I've risen to the rank of Grand Imperial Dragon, become the leader of House Hlaalu, plundered every single article from the treasuries of Vivec, nicked every single item to be grabbed from every house I've come upon, and gathered and stashed piles upon piles of equipment and items in Hlaal Manor; I've slaughtered hordes upon hordes of the enemy, leapt across the entire island of Morrowind in a single bound, spelunked in dozens of caves and grottos, enchanted the most powerful regenerative rings and pendents, and have perfected my skills in every single catagory; I've made my name a thing to be revered and feared, known for generosity and diligence to the law and the innocent and for mercilessness and cruelty to the ill-willed, for being at every place at every time...
...and I'm still not tired of it. Alas, the 'Box being a joint venture between me and my brother, it remains at home while I am at university, and his presence ensures little to no time to continue my escapades. Hopefully, I can pick up one of my own someday and begin the frenzy once again, and complete that which I have yet to fulfill.

This has been another blunder by you friendly local idiot.
EverQuest from December 1999 to December 2004...so 5 solid years, give or take? Played StarCraft alot, especially online. FFX has eaten a good 300 hours of my time. Civ III has consumed days, but the game I've played the most...Diablo. My God, has that game stolen more of my life than any other, except maybe EQ. Both online and offline, I've played it more times than I can count. I've beaten it 30+ times with a single-player warrior (same one), 12+ with a single-player sorcerer and at least 6+ times with a rogue. Online, I played a rogue everyday for hours for nearly a year before some PK bitch tricked me into getting killed by a horde of balrogs and made off with my gear.
