Hmm, analysing the length of the princesses Mercedes, and comparing it to the length of Spaceball One, and pulling numbers out of my ass because I don't know how to calculate this sort of thing, brings me to the conclusion that Spaceball One was really big. :o

Larger than an ISD, but smaller than a SSD.

Six or seven kilometers seems about right.

Can we deduce the size based on the diameter of the ear canal, somehow comparing it to the size of the winnebago?

My chemistry teacher would probably say "The technical definition of the size of Spaceball One would be 'damn big'."

If something was really hot (like if he had just set off some thermite) he'd say the technical term for the temperature was "damn hot". :)

damn big is putting it in layman's terms, "That's a Huge Bitch" would be a moderately technical definition

No normal mode is how we calculate Spaceball One

My guess is less than 10 km tall for the vacuuming woman.

You liked the movie? :) It had a couple of mildy funny moments
but overall, I thought it was pretty obvious Brooks should've quit
movie-making in the mid 1970's. Since and including Spaceballs,
most of his movies have seemed very stale (Robin Hood, for instance...
very unfunny and forced for the most part).

I think part of the problem is that his latter-day films had crap
actors. Gene Wilder is a naturally funny guy; he could make plenty
of things funny that, otherwise, Brooks might've buchered, IMO.
But Bill Pulman and Daphne Zuniga? Those two have yet to
ever deliver one line as funny as Wilder's (think Blazing Saddles:
"If you drink like that, you gonna die!" Wilder, shrugging: "When?"),
after twenty years of ham-fisted opportunities.

While I will admit that Spaceballs has its moments (the Mr Coffee one cracks me up, and most of the Rick Morranis bits are the best) it has dated very badly compared to some of Brook's other work...

Young Frankenstien was brilliant...and quite timeless...

Hmm... Spaceballs and Men in Tights were the only two Mel Brooks movies I liked. History of the World Part 1 didn't make me laugh until "Jews in Space" (yes, it was that bad - I don't know how I got through it all). Blazing Saddles did have its moments, yes, but on the whole, I didn't think it was as memorably funny.

Now, Gene Wilder... damn, that man was the perfect Wonka!
