Burablity comes from the TPM and the strengh comes from Jar-Jar's jump into the Naboo lake (when he and the Jedi went to Otah Gunga).Kreshna Aryaguna Nurzaman wrote:I never thought of it before. not really that's said also about Hutts and Bothans and some other species as well, so it's more steroetype then actual character point.Matt Huang wrote:EU does a good enough job of that.Gil Hamilton wrote:I suppose it depends on the Neimoidian and the Human really. The Viceroy certainly was a bit cowardly, and his crew in Ep1 was cowering... but there were also a pair of Jedi who were at the time cutting their way through a blastdoor to get them. I'd be scared too.
Plus their use of droids isn't cowardice really... I'd use droids too if I had the tech. They don't require years of training and are much easier to replace in the even of being exploded. We know that the boys on Geonosis were pumping out soldierboys for them by the millions... why bother with Neimoidian troops?
Let's not fall into the StarTrek trap of all Neimoidians being the same, huh?

Those of lesser sensitivity were oblivious to it, but to him it was like an omnipresent mist, invisible but nonetheless tangible, that swirled and drifted constantly about him. No words, no descriptions could begin to convey what it was like; the only way to understand it was to experience it.
He had learned over long years of study and meditation how to interpret each and every vagary of its restless flow, no matter how slight. Even without that ability, however, he would have known that Nute Gunray was lying about Hath Monchar’s whereabouts. An old joke about the viceroy’s kind summed it up nicely:
How can you tell if a Neimoidian is lying?
His mouth is open.

Yeah, this whole "Neimoidians are cowards" is just another dumb brainbug to simplify other species. And it began with "These Federation types are cowards". Now to me, this just tells me that the business-people in particular were cowards. I didn´t equate the Trade Federation with a singular species. (Which of course was done with all the Separatist factions. Sigh.)
Now, the brainbug developed because authors equated the two and suddenly all Neimodians are lying cowards who hoard money (they have entire treasure-worlds).

in a sense Trade Federation=Nemodian is true (but this was caused by Darth Sidious to begin with (the B1 droid guards turned on the Board of directors when its Nemodian membar where not present due to reported problems with their ship))VT-16 wrote:Now, the brainbug developed because authors equated the two and suddenly all Neimodians are lying cowards who hoard money (they have entire treasure-worlds).
And as Nemodians were/are only a small group of the Duros to begin with there's no reason not assume that their culture's only what we see in the PT.

Though they call Neimoidia home, Neimoidians can trace their ancestry to the ancient Duros spacefaring culture. The two share a striking similarity in appearance, but their personalities could not be more distant. While the Duros are a gregarious, expressive and adventurous lot, the Neimiodians seal themselves away from others, preferring to let droids do their talking.
Following the failed invasion of Naboo, the Neimoidians began losing favor in the galaxy. Though the command hierarchy of the Trade Federation still belonged to them, many Neimoidians fled from public view. Those that needed to conduct business took to calling themselves Duros to avoid the stigma.

Another thing to remember. They're closely related to Duros. Duros are supposed to be the second most widely spread adventurous spacefaring race (after Corillieans) You don't get to be that by being poor fighters.

Have we ever seen a Neimoidian do anything physical? For all we know, they have the strength of Chimpanzees.

We haven't seen them do anything beyond activating the droids. We could try to use Duros as a baseline, but we've never seen them do anything either.Bob the Gunslinger wrote: Have we ever seen a Neimoidian do anything physical? For all we know, they have the strength of Chimpanzees.
