A Big WTF with My iPod

Post by McC »

Yesterday, my iPod was working fine. Was listening to some music while waiting for realtors to show up to show me apartments and such. When I got home, I plugged it into my computer's USB port, as I always do, and let it recharge.

I unmounted my iPod from my computer this morning and then unplugged it. I went to play something on my way to work...and no songs showed up. Anywhere. Not under "Music," "Artists," "Albums," "Playlists" -- nothing. Thinking my iPod data had been erased somehow, I immediately reattached it and fired up WinAmp (which I used to interface with the iPod) to find that WinAmp did indeed still see all the songs on it. I could play them and everything. Figuring it might've been a momentary hiccup, I unmounted and detached the iPod again...and still nothing.

So I headed to work and attached it here. Same problem. However, both iTunes and WinAmp can see all the songs on there. The iPod itself even shows that a chunk of its hard drive space is filled up. Yet it absolutely refuses to actually display any music for playback.

Anyone know how to resolve this? Or, if not, who to even talk to?

Well, as usual, whenever I post a problem somewhere, I quickly figure out the solution about 30 seconds later.

The Apple website kindly informed me on their main iPod troubleshooting page how to reboot the iPod. Doing so fixed the problem. Crisis averted.
