Firefly Weapon

Last night on Firefly a couple of government goons used a strange weapon on the lesser government goons.

It was hand-held and had two small blue rods that stuck out to each side of the hand of the person holding it.

The first symptoms that it was doing anything was when the first target started bleeding from the nose. He quickly started bleeding from the eyes and around the fingernails.

The process appears to be quite painful. The corpses of people the weapon was used on showed even more extensive bleeding out, including from the mouth (I'm assuming it mainly came from the gums).

Anyway, I was wondering what kind of weapon people thought this might be. I'm guessing it's either radiation (microwaves?) based or sound (although it didn't make any detectable noise that I could hear) based.

The only thing noticeable peculiar about the men who used the weapon were the blue (rubber?) gloves they wore.

I'm guessing its a Focused Sonic weapon however if it had been as such thier should have been bleeding from the Ears as well as the brain cooks itself

Yeah, it was weird. It appeared to harm everyone in the room except the two Uber goons.

Would vibrations in the bones cause the bleeding around the fingernails?

Possible if the weapon is not that focus it should be hurting the gones to(Unless the glove nullify it somehow) a True sonic weapon would have blood vessels bursting everywhere so yes it could bleed from under your fingernails though you would be bleeding out of pretty much everything and everything...

Seemed to be sonic in nature. Also, there was a sound coming out of the device.

I got a nosebleed watching it! Seriously though, the sonic idea gets my vote.
