Alderaan is a major world and there is twenty years between episodes III and IV. Fluff indicates that blockade runners are a common design. I'm sure that they have a couple over twenty years.
The one in Episode IV is the Tantive IV, right? Maybe this is the Tantive III.

Ok, heres something I need to talk about…
For those that have followed things, I’m sure many of you know that, in the beginning of the movie when Obi and Ani are flying to go get Palpatine… There are attacked by a number of ‘Buzz-Bots’ Evil Droids that rip up their ship!
Now then, these things don’t attack with plasma torches, laser cutters, or some time of energy cutting beam… No, from what I heared they begin to cut through the ships with a basic, metal CUTTING DISK! Brain Bug anyone?
I mean, the armour of StarWars is supposed to be legendary, and here we have tiny bots with primitive cutting disks tearing through fighters like a hot knife through butter!
What has me really worried is what the Trekkies are going to say about this “ Oh hey! We don’t need supper weapons to destroy a SD, we just need chainsaws!” *sighs*
Unless I have my facts and rumors wrong here, please say I’m wrong?

Ummm...and so they use buzzsaws? From a standpoint of movie, it's pretty silly, but as technological, how is that bad?
I mean if these thing are able to cut through this substance that SW uses, how is that a problem? I mean given what tech we use in many cases, it's not as if we use Ultra Lasers to cut every piece of steel. To presume that ultra tech is needed is what drove ST into the ground in many ways...shinier does not mean better.
And the Trekkies who particpate in these debates, barring the rabid, have long ago decided to go "SW wins in a straight up military campaign". Only the blithering go "The Feddies will nevah die!!!".

Eh, sorry about not being more clear.. The thing is, let me ask you this, If I took a modern chainsaw and smacked it against a StarWars fighter, do you think it would cut though the armour?
The thing is that I would expect, whatever material StarWars fighters to be made of, to need much much more then a normal cutting disk in order to slice through. Does that make sense? Or am I Babeling?

Can your chainsaw cut through a sizable chunk of steel? Probably not, since it's not designed for cutting through the material. Apparently the Buzz Droids are equipped with tools that are capable of cutting through starfighter skin.Eh, sorry about not being more clear.. Just because it looks like a buzzsaw does not mean it has enough power to do what the object on the screen is doing to that fighter.
No different then looking at Han's pistol and think "Well...it's a pistol, how powerful can it be?" after watching it blow half meter chunk holes of concrete from a area that is meant to take blast off energy from a starship.

Ok ok, points conceded to all. Forgive me for getting a little carried away, I just heared about this and kinda assumed the worst about it. I guess I really over simplified things. The argument about Hans blaster not being powerful because it ‘looks’ like a normal pistol is a really good point, thanks all.

There's a RotS calander thread over at MF.com with some incredible pictures (Yoda looks simply fucking fantastic, even in close up).
Among the images are several from the aftermath of Anakin's massacre at the Jedi Temple. A large one is the long shot of Obi-Wan and Yoda that we're familiar with, but a smaller one above it is new: dead Jedi Younglings sprawled out on the floor, including one with his severed arm lying near his head.
There can be no way this film can get just a PG now...

OH FUCK NO! It´s been ONE WEEK after I posted a comparison pic, and NOW people are suddenly noticing the Tantive IV. Jesus, you people are fucking slow!Crayz9000 wrote:It looks like it got rear-ended. Way to go, ILM...
... though there could be the off chance that it's actually a fan-made model based on the @#*(&@ing WEG blueprints.
It gets a refit between ROTS and ANH, alright? A goddamn refit, just like a certain other famous sci-fi ship.
I know the entire movie, so stop whining.I now know how more than half of the movie goes...

It seems they were never activated... perhaps the Seperatists attacked too quickly (seeing as though it's said to take a while for the shields to activate).Jadeite wrote:One thing I'm curious about is how did the Seperatist forces get past Coruscant's dual planetary shields?

The Seperatist forces attack was so sudden, and from unmonitered vectors via the Deep Core, they were not activated until after they had gotten to the surface. Once the shields were activated, the generators were vulnerable to the CIS forces already on the ground, and several were destroyed, leaving openings in the shield network.Jadeite wrote:One thing I'm curious about is how did the Seperatist forces get past Coruscant's dual planetary shields?

The complete ROTS comic has been leaked. I can say with some degree of confidence that the EU character in ROTS is Jedi Master Vos.
