Hornet in digital camo

I just saw this. Interesting. I'm surprised they didn't try it on the F-117 or F/A-22.

Uhm... sorry, but what is that small amount of color difference supposed to do?

Wierd. The patches are too regular to properly break up the shapes and contours, and act as proper camo, aren't they?

At high altitude it should still accomplish that task.

That, and consider how fast the bloody thing is moving. Even at a lower altitude, it doesn't matter how the lines look if they're moving so fast they all blur together anyway.

Finding other aircraft in the sky is difficult enough, I don't see this having that much of an advantage.
The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.

In the age of radar and fighting engagements at miles and miles away, we need to make something harder to see with the naked eye..... why?

Because even in this day and age, there's still some people out there that shoot by eye... to be sure, they're all down on the ground for the most part. But any edge one can get, is a good edge...

I can see it fine. The camo must not be working.

Ha ha ha... needs higher resolution in my opinion :P
"The rest of the poem plays upon that pun. On the contrary, says Catullus, although my verses are soft (molliculi ac parum pudici in line 8, reversing the play on words), they can arouse even limp old men. Should Furius and Aurelius have any remaining doubts about Catullus' virility, he offers to fuck them anally and orally to prove otherwise." - Catullus 16, Wikipedia

I think the rational behind it is that at a distance the colours merge to create an indistinct object surface making it hard for the eye to focus on it. Makes it harder to ID the make at a distance and also harder to look directly at it as it travels. Haven't a clue about what sort of distances are needed though.
