Partition Problems

Post by Macross »

Hello all.

I just recently tried to create a new partition on my 160GB hard-drive. The plan was to split the drive into two, a 150 GB D: drive and 10 GB H: drive.

I used Norton Partitian Magic 8.0.

When I ran the program, I was able to successfully create a new H: drive, but I can no longer access my D: drive. I receive an error message that says:

specified file system has no i/o functions

Now, I tried removing the H: drive partition, but I can still not access my D: drive. None of the manuals or tech documents, or online support seems to offer any information on how I can regain access to my D: drive and the files stored there.

Does anybody have any ideas? or Do I need to reformat the drive?

Sounds like it but I'm no expert so I'd wait for someone else's opinon before going through with it.

If you can back up any important info (or if no info is important) just reformat it. Its not too much of a hassle. Otherwise wait for someone a little more handy then me to suggest something.
