An Eternal Question

Post by Crossroads Inc. »

Ok, so here’s an Oldie but a goodie…

One day, out of the blue, a detachment of ISDs drops out of HyperSpace just outside of Earth Orbit. Terran Timeframe is, well right about now. With current people and actions taking place… StarWars Timeframe is just 3 years after the defeat of the Vong and the detachment is deep space exploration taskforce from Palleon looking for new Imperial Worlds.

You have all knowledge of the StarWars universe and what’s been happening, but for the sake of simplicity, the rest of the world forgets that ships from a popular Movie have suddenly appeared.

Now, the obvious question. What do you do, and more important, how do you think the world, the ‘current’ world as we know it, would react. Who would become rebels, who would become butt-kissers and how would the Remnant look upon a world, however backwater and primitive, with a massive population of over 8 Billion and an obviously warlike nature.

Me? I would offer my services as an “Official Terran Cultural and Historical liaison” to the first Imperial Officer I could find, and hopefully, over time, make my way into a cushy job on a Star Destoyer overseeing the assimilation of Earth.

What? I know about the New Republic, I would take Pellon any day over those wussies!

It would be the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances by then.

I also like the idea about going with the Empire. I personally would rather go for a post in the imperial governor’s office.

True, but Palleon and the Remnant are a lot more free and open then the orginal Empier, plus they have all the lovely big SD ships on thier side :)

I wonder if the leaders of the world would try to retaliate first.

It depends, how do the imperials contact earth governments? Do they secretely send messages to world leaders, do they stay out of sight and send people down to observe us?

Well, since it's the Imperials, even the 'nice' ones of the Remnant, I would guess they would show up and say something like "How would you like to have the honor of pledging your alliegance to us"

Considering I set this at current times, with current world governments, I bet America would get nuked before giving in to demands like that... ((quickly moves to Canada and makes contanct with Imperials))

Given that America (or anybody else for that matter) doesn't have any weapons allowing them to do so, I rather doubt it.

I would make contact with the imperials any way I could, amaze them with my knowledge of they galaxy's events (assuming the books are correct), then ask for a job as "Earth Culture Advisor"

I think that every world religion would collapse when we discover we're not the only homo sapiens in the galaxy. Maas cult suicides and whatnot. I'd lock myself in my house until people were done getting killed, then try to get off planet.

Yes, but they wouldn't do shit to an ISD.

Even if they can, and I'm being told they can't, I doubt they are powerful enough to breach an ISD's shields.
What with them having weapons in the gigaton range, one could think their shields would be strong enough to resist at least a few shots from their own weapons

Well, I don't know about you, but given how our current President reacts to threats from outside the Nation, well, I'm going to miss all the Histroy of D.C. after it's be turned into a glassy Crater...

I am curious how the Imperials wil lreact to such a planet like ours, I mean, outside of the Coreworlds, arn't populations of over 1 Billion, let alone 9, rather rare?

Think of the cheap labor we could provide to manufactoring Imperial goods!

Not saying they would, I mean we have a way to retaliate whether they actually work or not.

Or the cannon fodder they could use us as while they rape Earth for raw materials.

Not after getting a look at the Empire's 200 gigaton turbolasers. We may not like the idea of being turned into an Imperial province but we're not stupid or suicidal.
The rebels would have to fight the Empire with terrorist and guerilla tactics, like the Viet Kong did in Vietnam or the Iraqi insurgents are doing now. Anyone who even contemplates open war on the Imperial Remnant at this point would be an abysmal retard.
