Size of Borg Cube?

Post by Darth Balls »

I don't know if I'm supposed to make a new topic about this cause it's kind of out of the way from my other topics subject so if I'm in the wrong please correct me, but could anyone provide a credible source for the size of a borg cube?
I read somebody say on these forums it was 3km squared on each side, but another person is claiming to me that the official Star Trek files says its 5km squared. It doesnt really make a difference but I'd rather have accuracy than anything else.
Is there a specific source that states which is correct?

A 'Standard' Cube is a 3 KM a side cube. I've heard reports of ones larger, but I don't have hard numbers or episode names. Sorry!

Yeah that's what I said. Should I ask for a source from this guy who claims otherwise you think? Maybe then it will turn out to be a unconventional borg cube?

the guy said

"Official Star Trek Fact Files, Starships, Borg Fleet, Borg Cube:

The size of a standard Borg cube as encountered by the federation is considerably larger than any federation vessel. Each face is 5km squared. The cube incorporates a completely decentrailised design, with no specific bridge or engineering areas. It also can regenerate itself automonously and can still function even if up to 75% of it has been destroyed in battle"

cmon somebody give me a source here for the 3km squared thing.

That's just a bunch of crap. The 3 km per side comes from the TNG episode where we first see the cube, and there's several cubes that hasn't been destroyed to 75% and they were still blown to hell. Canon proves the guy wrong.

As I said in the other thread, size matters not! It's the cubes power output that would determine it's ability to fight! And any ST vessel has a power output orders of magnitude LOWER than SW combat vessels. Being larger just makes them easier to hit. Advantage SW.

I made that quite clear in my posts to the guy, but he's a stubborn trekkie. What can ya do?

But I noticed his figure was wrong so I decided to correct it. Now he thinks that cause his figure was wrong all the numbers about Turbolasers and other weapons/sheilds are wrong too. How he comes to this conclusion I will never know...

First off; EPII ICS is official material. AFAIK none of the ST tech manuales are! Tell him to suck on it. Also read the site for detailed calcs from TESB destroying asteroids, and the calculated weapon output of a Turbolaser. It doesn't contradict the ICS at all. He is just blindly clinging onto his ST and refuses to admit that it would get an ass-beating. My favourite SF is Space: Above and Beyond, but I know that ST would slaughter it in seconds. *shrug*

P.S. Assimilation = admition of defeat. It means that the only way that the Borg would win is if they had the same weapons as SW. It is an admission that the ST weapons aren't up to SW standards. If he continues with this, then it's a question of whether or not the Borg can assimilate such as advanced technology anyway, and whether or not they are even able to build this tech. It doesn't weaken the Empire at all. They have always been battling against foes who's weapons are equal to there own, so the Borg having one SD or two or whatever makes no difference!

The source is actually a "Dark Frontier" quote.

Erin: It's massive, 28 cubic kilometers, 129,000 life-forms on board.

This means the measure of one side of a cube is aprox. 3.0365889718756625194208095785057 kilometers.
