Walking into a shield, ray or particle type, would be a guarenteed fatal or near-fatal action.

It'll fry organic stuff. There's an incident in Clone Wars where Anakin reached through one, his robotic arm was fine, but it stripped the covering from it.

I'm still disappointed the guy at MF.com didn't scan the pages covering the Venator.

Hey, the book is soon out in the stores (don't know when it hits the shelves here in Sweden though).

This part made me laugh:
The Imperial-class Star Destroyer was originally the Imperator-class, but was renamed following the Jedi Purge

Imperator-class is now more or less legit, and I'll continue calling it such. :D

A question now for those Spolier hounds who love digging these things up...

Has anyone yet to put together a complete list of all the ships, whatever their size, that will appear over Courscont? Knowing Lucas, and his past, there are bound to be plenty of Easter Eggs...

Actaully the jury is still out as to whose decision it was that put EU easter eggs in the movies... Uncle George, or the ILM techno-sorcerors.

My main complaint about the book is the text written by author Dr. Curtis Saxon. Much of the text often comes across as a kind of dry technobabble reminiscent of that found in another franchise with the "star" in it's name. I often felt I was reading a technical lecture instead of a book about a space opera/fantasy series. Star Wars is not hard science fiction, so reading that a ARC-170 starfighter has a maxium liner acceleration of 2,600 G in open space just feels out of place. (Am I alone in thinking this?) Star Wars has never been about scientific realism, so why the need for this kind of info? This was also a problem in the Clones Cross-Section book, also by the same author.
Why the need? Because people like to know, asshole!

Were did you get that quote from anyway? O.o
I agree with the fellow on Saxton’s writing style, it is a bit dry on occasions, but then it is a “tech” book and that’s what it is marketed as (and that is also the reason why I won’t buy them, not to big a fan of those kind of books).

How exactly are you suppose to write about ships, weapons, etc? I felt his writing is appropriate for the subject at hand. I'd really like to see an example of a writing style that wouldn't be considered dry by yourself and the author of that article.

Might be the subject in general that is not very exiting, sure they are good work for what they are trying to get across, but to me they just seem like big annotated picture books which cost quit a lot of money. ;) Which I don’t need to spend anyway, because I usually get beat to near death with quotes from them in this forum, anyway :D. And, the stuff I really want to know about the ships I can pick of other sources, just as well.

As for the writing style, I can’t help but wonder why Saxton seems to use a bit over the top language in general. He keeps calling things sinister, grand, menacing etc.. Sure if he thinks they look like that let him write it, I mostly don’t think so, but then I never cared all that much for a flying tin can in a fantasy world, and don’t get paid to care, like he does. :)

To spend on a annotated picture book? Yes, not a lot of money in general. ;)

I mean if seen the book in store and flipped through it and I would rather spend my money on something else, maybe I will buy of copy of “saxton and how he sees star wars the super cross sections collector edition” once we get something like it, which is very likely. I did not buy the Star Wars dvd box either, just because I know their will be a new one with all 6 movies soon.

Looks like the ashbed he falls into charbroils his body, but not to the point of actually pulverizing anything. He had to amputate what´s left, though.
