According to my Latin dictionary, "tector" means "a plasterer"... am I missing something here?

We are ALL in your debt for these Drool Worthy images :D

Hrm Curious, The Venator is only slightly shorter then an ISD, but has 'only' 7,400 people?

Not surprising, considering she has no more than half the mass, and is more dedicated to fighter and transport support.

It's packed with starfighters.

That doesn't mean there's actual SPHA-Ts in there though- just their guns.

That makes it sound like they were firing the weapons SPHA-Ts have (as a seperate weapon), rather than having the SPHA-Ts come and fire themselves.

They don't carry Stromtrooper Battalions and the chances are it relies on more automation that the ISD's which makes it more prone to failure of systems during combat.

You know, the more I look at the design, and more crutially the ICS text on it the more I realise it's meant to be a failure as a Combat design in some area's to help explain the ISD design.

So the exposed bridges, the long Hangar bay and lack of real firepower are then Addressed in the ISD's.

You know what I mean! :P

There's no mention of BDZ on the Venator pages that I can see.

That makes sense, even when we were debating about the bridge location. The idea seems to be to highlight the Republic's ignorance of military technology before coming up with more intelligent designs like those in the OT.

Hell, I kept wondering why the engines of the Acclamator and then the Venator class were so exposed, and this seems to fit the same idea.

IMPERATOR-CLASS IS CANON.

And there was much rejoicing.

HOLY FUCK. Saxton finally killed that "Imperial-class" crap? :D And could the Tector be the bayless ISD seen in ROTJ, or the true name of the "Allegiance-class"?

I never thought about that, but in a warped twisted way that makes sense! as soon as these ships came out, fans were Horrified by the obvious design flaws and terrible way they looked. But of course if they had designed a perfect, jack of all trade, efficient ship during the Clone Wars, their would never be a need, nor a will too make bigger ones. You could even argue that Pallpatine helped with this on purpose to justify the massive ISD’s their massive crews and troops.

EDIT:

It's more the text that helped me reach that decision as it's constanyl pointing out flaws that get corrected.

I was (as can be seen earlier in the thread)one of the guys originally horrified by the designs.

Hold on, I left something out to smooth out my quote... don't get your hopes TOO up...
Imperator-class (renamed Imperial-class after the Jedi Purge)
Sorry if I caused any confusion...

Agreed, though the class is renamed Imperial after the Jedi purge, unfortunately.

Fuck it. I'm still calling it Imperator.

You know, I just thought of another reason why these ships may have been screwed up from the get-go, as well as a reason (Aside from the obvious) why there are none around during the time of ANH. It could be that the reason the ISD’s were manufactured so quickly, was because they ,perhaps, cannibalized all of the Venators for resources to help make the new ISD!

You really don't need to bother to keep old shit around at GFFA production levels. I bet they were mothballed/decommissioned or sent to the Deep Core.

Damn, fifteen thousand KPH...?

Oh, dude, and proof of chronological decelleration during Hyperspace travel, which fits in line with Saxton's thoughts on the nature of Hyperspace. :)
