40.000 tons per second at max power. Working on a pic of Saxton's credits and the point defense guns.
3.6e24 watts in other words. 4.5e23 watts per turret.

Edit: In comparing a Venator's HTLs to an ISD's HTLs, I estimate an ISD HTL would be between 5-10x more powerful than a Venator's.

Is there something said about the volume that fuel takes up?
At the rates they're burning through the stuff, they must have huge bunker space for it on the ships...
Thats precisely why fuel tends to make up the vast majority of the mass on a starship (orders of magnitude greater.) You need that much mass simply to accelerate starships as massive as SW vessels are at thousands of gees by reaction-drive. A consequence of this is the firepower values.

Its worth noting that htis is "maximum power" outputs generally, which can be sustained for a few hours tops. (incidentally its also these problems with power generation which tend to impose rather severe acceleration limitations on starships.)

Ha! My name made it into there (again.) I thought I recognized some of my ideas. :D

I notice Ossus is also mentioned, as is Kaz. And Publius. His Divine Shadow. And Primey.

Yeah, definitely external mounts too (which makes them different from those internal mounts.)

Check the Acclamator in the AOTC:ICS. It shows the fuel tanks and gives the fuel densities relative to the ship's mass.

Well that's a second mention in a Star Wars book for Mike, lucky. Closest thing I ever got to a mention in a book was a character with the same name as me getting devoured by a horde of flying beasties.. which isn't as cool as it sounds since it isn't an intentional redshirting.

Nope. I'm expected to go out and buy it like the rest of you. I just get to become a target (yet again) for irate trekkies and whatnot.

wow o.O now that is just cheap. Most authors give free signed copies to the people that helped them with the book.

Awesome, my name is there :) (I get the distinct impression my real name is less than well known on SD.net, so we'll see if anyone gets it).

Darn tootin'!

I just don't have anything to contact Dr Saxton with, but I think I'm right in that I can include myself in the 'anonymous others' section.

So the light point defense guns are on swivel mounts, awesome- so what about the guns we see firing from windows in the trailer?

Who knwos? either projectile weapons (like the ones on the Separatist ships), improvised batteries (some have suggested ground artillery firing out of windows, although I dislike that idea *immensely*), or they're just more point defense lasers that are for some odd reason internally mounted (sort of like with the DS's internal turrets. go figure.)

Okay, that's fair enough, but they were for the Terminator and not Star Wars! Personally I blame Mike because;
  1. It's convenient.
  2. If he ever wanted to do a 'Jedi Power' page, our (yours, Damien's and mine) analysis of Anakin's fall in AotC is pretty much ready to go.
There! :P
