Mormon racism

Read the Book of Mormon. Approaches the OT in sheer, blatant, undiluted racism. And the Virgin Mary was NOT white!

Mormons themselves are usually not very fucked up - I've met quite a few Mormons who are perfectly reasonable people, including my debate teacher, who just so happens to be a Mormon bishop (and yes, he is good at his job). I'm not defending the mormon chruch here, hell they're almost as bad as the Catholic church, just pointing out that contrary to popular belief on this board, not all Mormons are the fundamentalists everyone makes them out to be.

As with most religeons, the problem does not incur with one or two people but when hoards of people accept the moronic beliefs and give power to the powermongers who control such religeons.

While it is most certainly not something I would want to be associated with, there is no evidence provided that that belief is still common within the Mormon community.

Every single member of the Mormon "Quorum of 12" is white.

Do you think this is coincidence? Are they sincere? Or are they merely paying lip service to racial equality in order to avoid the taxman? I don't know about the rank and file, but I have serious trouble believing that the hierarchy has changed its ways, especially since they still revere this Kimball asshole and quote his "teachings".

Now that evidence has been presented, I concede the point.

I think the general feeling here is that the higher-ups are the unethical ones, but the "rank and file" Mormon is a decent person, merely misguided by their leaders. I agree with this, as all the Mormons I know personally are very nice, ethical people who if anything are less racist than the majority of the people where I am.

True, but they contribute to or by being apathetic they contribute to a repressive and opressive organization that affects people who do not count themselves amoung the Mormons.

Alot! It is more of a life style here than anything else. Alot of people join the Mormons to be part of a crowd more than anything else, like I said before it is about elitism.
