 I've watched all the Babidi epsiodes, and I certainly haven't had problems with demonic possession or seizures or any of that sort of thing.

What a bunch of morons... they seriously believe that a goddamned anime is evil? Well, okay, DBZ is evil, but not for that reason.

Idle hands are the Devil's workshop, and DBZ reuses the same 4 frames of animation each episode, so...

ROFL...true, each saga consists of three fight scenes and twenty seconds of Goku lying on the ground groaning in various semi-randomly timed cycles.

*Sigh*
That's too bad. Anime does do that to some people, just look at Pokemon. Inorder to counter this deamonic posession, they must watch some truly Godly Anime.

EVANGELION!!!

A few episodes of Evangelion and they'll be all fixed up!

If that doesn't work, there's always Kokoro Library. That should counter any convlusions they have, as it is essencially animated tranqualizer.

But then . . . wouldn't Jenova, being a derivation from the name "Jehova", be good as well?

Because it's the same old fundie routine that TV shows and Movies cause the problems in society because they're evil and violent and corrupt and possess people.

Instead of taking them to a doctor, the father is running around yelling that DBZ is possessing his children, and that's what is making them have convulsions!

This doesn't sound stupid to you?

Meh. Poket Monsters (I refuse to refer to it by that butchered american name) wasn't so bad. At least it had the decency to advertise itself as a children's show. Dragon Ball Z on the other hand... *seeths with rage*

Evangelion... it won't cure the psychological problems of people who actually watch DBZ. You need something a bit more lighthearted without blood, gore, or prolonged fight scenes. Nadesico is the best thing to use on them.

BTW, what's Kokoro Library about?

It's like blaming D&D for those crimes a few of the players perpetrated back in the 80's, while completely ignoring the real causes. Follow my logic, pecker?

That's not fundamentalism. It's South American culture. And In case you didn't read, he DID have doctors see him.

"Doctors on the town of Tarapoto have examined Edy Frank Castillo and have not yet come up with an explanation for his condition. They continue to study the cases."

Ok, they may not be geniuses, but a Doctor is a Doctor.

Pokemon actually induced seizures in Japanese children because of he flashes of light in a certain episode. That's what I was talking about.

Also, I was joking, saying that since the should watch GODly anime to drive out the demonic anime, then they should watch Evangelion.

Kokoro Library is about nothing. Hence, I reffered to it as "Animated Tranqualizer"

Actually, the seizures in an urban legend, or so I'm told.

Oops. Missed that.

Blaming it on possession is definitely fundamentalism however, as is blaming the show for possessing them and causing their condition by this method, wouldn't you agree?

And Christian Fundamentalism is the primary party for wanting to blame the media for a huge part of society's ills, but that's a whole another debate.

I heard it was true, but only in children who are epileptic. That's why most videogames have warnings about epilepsy, and why some cartoons do now also.

This is true. I had a cousin that was epileptic, and she couldn't play a lot of video games because of the flashing lights. Also, she had to take meds 4 times a day (yes, even at 4am) because of it.

That's undoubtedly the explanation for what happened to them, then.

I hope they get to be feeling better soon.

The flashing lights in that particular Pokemon show was especially bad because of the nature of the colors. That scene featured the background's color changing back and forth between red and blue. If you take a look at it, the rapid change of these two "opposing" colors can be rather nauseating, especially coming out from a screen in large areas.

Fundamentalism: A usually religious movement or point of view characterized by a return to fundamental principles, by rigid adherence to those principles, and often by intolerance of other views and opposition to secularism.
n : the interpretation of every word in the Bible as literal truth

It's not a return, as they've always held the beliefs. They haven't displayed any intolerance so far. And the Bible has no direct link to this issue. I'd term it naievity (sp?) and over-zealousness, but hardly fundamentalism.

They may be fundamentalist, but this isn't a fundamentalist issue.
