first off spanky can you be any more of an ass I know it's a wird question but you do have to be mean about it . Now the best why to answer this is if you talking about the one that's in your imagination then it real can not be answerd. As far as the ones in the older moives then buy a model (becouse that's what they were using) and find out your self.

Except a model doesn't have the various electrical components and possibly structural pieces that a real in-universe ship would have.darth kendo apprentice wrote:first off spanky can you be any more of an ass I know it's a wird question but you do have to be mean about it . DKA, get a damn spell checker.
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Well it depend on the situation as it's bit different to disasemble and reasemble something in the "field" then do it in shipyard with all the equipment you need.
Plus some ship are more modural then others.

Well depends on the vehicle.
The Ties I would figure it could be done in from a 24 hour period to not more than a week as this would be required by the design. As these ships would have to be able to be repaired quickly in the field. The time would vary depending on the facilities available
For the light freighters I'd give it about 2 weeks. These ships are bigger and intended to only require minimal interference from the owner. As seen in Empire, the parts are easily accessable but the ship itself does not appear to be designed to be easily torn down.
The Corvette and the Gunship are massive capitol sized vessels. They may not be star destroyers but they are still huge ships. They could not be torn down without the facilities of a shipyard. The Corvette is modular and this might be make easier tearing it down but I would still give them at least a month to completely tear down.

Because its possible it was written in a sourcebook somewhere, and someone knows it, and can answer the question, which was what Jaepheth was likely hoping for. Unless you've read ALL of the EU ever made and can conclusively say that no one has ever written it anywhere.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:Um, a week?

Frist off if I don't say this I'll fell like an ass. Sorry spanky you just got to me and I really had no right saying anything to you like that. Now thats over YT3 even if someone did write it down that doesn't make it a fact unless they proved it . It's still a question that can't be answer unless you have ALOT of money and ALOT of time on your hands to build one and still you won't be able to build it to a true one unless you can change reality.
Woo he found full stops! Still 10 though.darth kendo apprentice wrote:Frist off if I don't say this I'll fell like an ass. I think its a deeply silly question - moreso because its so non-specific. How long ... in ones backyard? In a full-feature factory? If you know what you're doing? If you're using a maintenance manual from Super Cheap Starships?
Frankly, I doubt you'd even BE ABLE to fully tear it down by yourself, assuming he means like you can tear down your car. I'd never fly with a hyperdrive someone had disassembed and reassembled by hand, for instance. Not to mention components attached to resist 10,000Gs, highly toxic substances, etc. Doing some spot repairs (like Solo does to his ship) is a hell of a way from putting it on blocks and stripping it down to five million parts.
Suspension of Disbelief and Canon Hierarchy. If it was written somewhere and never countermanded by higher canon, it is accurate.darth kendo apprentice wrote:YT3 even if someone did write it down that doesn't make it a fact unless they proved it. Some thing like the YT-1300 or Ebon Hawk are probaly built modular do basic repairs (and upgrades) by changing the module(s), but any major repair or upgrade would need a proper repair yard (remember that Han couldn't repair the Falcon's Hyperdrive and get up Bespin to repair it).

Well, the Falcon underwent a complete rebuild in one of the books from the trilogy with the Centerpoint Station. Sorry, don't have any of my boks with me, so I can't even remember the name of the trilogy.

IIRC that's in the Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels? A trademark of Corellian Engineering Corporation or some such...JediMaster415 wrote:I read somewhere that YT-1300s are designed to be modified endlessly by its owners so it's rather hard to tell. Droids, it’s all about droids…
While in all honesty I could not could not really give you any answers one way or the others, When you imagine a small Army of droids, who have the complete plans of something in their memory, you can easily imagine them disassembling, or reassembling something rather rapidly.
The other big sections, is that due to StarWars tech being so old, and so well understood, you might be able to get 50% of a ship off the shelf or preassembles. Imagine whole components of a ship, engines, computers, rooms, guns, all pre-assembled and ready to install.
In short, even making a ship from scratch could be easy if you knew what you were doing and had hundreds of small droids at your disposal.

Sorry for being vague.
I meant breakdown at an Imperial shipyard or well equipped hangar, re-assembled at a more 'field' location like an Imperial outpost
