ICS for ESB? RotJ?
Ok, so we all know of the well done, marvellous ICS of the original StarWars Movie. The ISD, The Death Star, The Falcon, and many others. But, aside from a meager few others added on in the back, there is nothing from the other two movies. Why?
I can think of more then a Dozen ships I would kill to see be put into this level of Detail. An ISD-II, TIE Bombers, Cloud City, The Medical-Frigate and of course, The Executer ((DROOLS!)). For RotJ, Think of the MonCal ships we could see in detail, The TIE Interceptor as well as the B-Wing.
Ok, so enough dreaming... Why was none of this ever done? It is not as if there wouldn't be a market for it...

I really don't think we need two more, one more to showcase Mon Cal cruisers, A wing and B wings, Cloud city would be neat, Executor is a defenate as is the medical frigate. But I don't think there is enough left out of the OT for two more books.Crossroads Inc. wrote:Ok, so we all know of the well done, marvellous ICS of the original StarWars Movie. The origianl ICS covered AT AT's and Slave One from ESB and Jabba's barge from ROTJ, so it covered most of the OT. STill, I share your sentiment.

If the ICS's came out with the first movies back in the late 70s and early 80s then you would have had just that.Crossroads Inc. wrote:Ok, so enough dreaming... Why was none of this ever done? It is not as if there wouldn't be a market for it...

Well, lets look at a complete list of ships that you can add to a 'Part-II' of ICS for the orginal movies...Knife wrote:I really don't think we need two more, one more to showcase Mon Cal cruisers, A wing and B wings, Cloud city would be neat, Executor is a defenate as is the medical frigate. In order of apperance...
The Executor
An ISD-II
Galalfray Cargo Ship(sp??)
TIE Bomber
Cloud Car
Cloud City
Medical Frigate
---
Small Sail Barge
MonCal Cruisers (three types I believe were shown in the Movie)
B-Wing
A-Wing
TIE Interceptor
Thats about all I can think of, theres a LOT of really big Capital ships in there... Maybe it would have been just too much work for one book, not enough for two?

What I would like to see would be an 'ultimate scale chart' for all the capships that made an appearance in the trilogy. That would include the big ones and the smaller practically unknown background fillers.Crossroads Inc. wrote:Thats about all I can think of, theres a LOT of really big Capital ships in there... You forgot Death Star 2 (not that it is really necessary with OT ITW) and Shuttlecraft Tyderium. I think there's enough material for a "ICS part 2" book. Since it was missing from the OT ITW, and since you've included Cloud City (which is more of an installation rather than a vehicle), you could also include the shield bunker as well. Of course, I suppose Cloud City can be justified as a 'vehicle' because it's a pseudo-space station (that's in a really low orbit), though that same justification wouldn't extend towards the shield bunker unfortunately.
ISD mk. 2
Executor SSD
Gallofree Cargo transport
TIE Bomber
Cloud Car
Cloud City
Nebulon-B Frigate
Small Sail Barge
Home One MCS
Liberty MCS (perhaps on the same page, there can be wingless variant - kind of like how in the ROTS ICS the CIS Destroyer and Frigate share the two page spread)
Shuttle Tyderium
TIE Interceptor
A-wing
B-wing
Death Star 2
That would be 15 (not counting the wingless MCS, which I would put on the same page as the Liberty), two pages on each comes to 30 pages in total. Which IIRC is about right for an ICS. If it's too much, cut out DS2, since we have that covered in OT ITW. If it's too little, add two pages for the wingless MCS.

It's the GR-75. Both the GR-75 and GR-45 (the latter being the small version we see parked in Mos Eisley) were given a mini-ICS treatment in the OT:ITW. They don't really need to be included.Galalfray Cargo Ship(sp??)

Original Trilogy: Inside the Worlds, IIRC. I haven't read it, but it's by Dr. Saxton, and includes a fair few drawings and depictions, much like the ICS and Visual Dictionaries combined.Crossroads Inc. wrote:Excuse my n00bness but OT:ITW was what again?

Cloud City was also featured somewhat in the OT ITW, so it really doesn't need to be included either.
For redundancy's sake, I'd also eliminate the TIE Interceptor, ISD2, maybe the TIE Bomber, and maybe the skiff (small sail barge). Executor simply MUST be the gatefold, or I'll eat your pets' skin.

Hrmm, I'm guessing this isn't a common book as I've never seen it before, anyone have any places where I could purchase it?Elheru Aran wrote:Original Trilogy: Inside the Worlds, IIRC. As for the TIE's, I'd really like to see both the TIE Bomber and Intereceptors done, they deserve some time in the spotlight as much as all the Alliance ships got.

Already found the book, go Amazon
Found an Info page with a few clips of pics from it, I see it shows the Executors Bridge and the exploding Dome... Oh... I really hope they label those as 'Sensor Domes'

Yes and no, in the OT ICS on the Tie page (top of the center fold Deathstar) it has both the Interceptor and Bomber along with the regular TIE. So I really don't see a need for the Interceptor or Bomber to be in a new book. Same with the Imp Star II. Only some minor differences make it II and IMO not enough to put on an ICS. The Mon Cal ships are different enough for their own, but I would imagine that as close as they look to each other it may be repitious so I think Storsk is right in puting them all on the same page.Illuminatus Primus wrote:You can't eliminate everything or there's not sufficient material for a second book.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:For redundancy's sake, I'd also eliminate the TIE Interceptor, ISD2, maybe the TIE Bomber, and maybe the skiff (small sail barge). My personal list would be;
A-wing
B-wing
Medical frigate
Home One
Wing Mon Cal cruiser
Executor (fold out)
Cloud City (with a small quicky of a cloud car)
Lambda Shuttle
Gallofree yards cargo ship
Death Star II with a small bunker diagram cutaway thingy
Echo station
YT 2400 (hey it's cannon now)
Assualt shuttle *Sentinel?*
