The Trade Federation is actually my favourite SW faction. Despite the suckyness of its leader, it is actually very cool.18-Till-I-Die wrote:I SO underestimated the TradeFeds...

One has to wonder, what kind of government would allow a shipping company to build warships like that! Which arent even real warships, but converted freighters with a doughnut weapons module attatched, which says something about the level of shield technology in SW.

Yes they do. What a fucking moron Gunray is.
They couldn't really stop them. Galaxies are big. The Trade Federation owns planets, and knows of places that even the Jedi and the Republic don't. Add to that that the Trade Fed core ship is one big reactor, with transport sections built around it, and the fact that it has immense shielding becomes unsurprising.
Put another way. Numerous Acclamators could shoot at a Core Ship until their weapons burnt out, and not harm it.

It also shows how suicidally brave/stupid the Naboo fighter pilots were attacking the damn things.

The 6e23W figure for the Core Ship shield is presumably a peak eficciency rating. Do we have a timeframe for how long it takes for the bulk of the TL's "punch" to be delivered?NecronLord wrote:Put another way. (Going by time averaged firepower and the 2400 gigaton/second figure, 63 acclamators would be required. However, the blast of a TL is certainly delivered in a shorter timeframe than this? If the blast is delivered in .01s, one Acclamator would suffice.)

A TL beam lasts a uniform 2 seconds. There is no way to derive the time it remains at peak power.

One could go by the assumption that an Acclamator can kill an Acclamator - fairly reasonable IMO.
If so, 2400 Gigatons in 2 seconds (here I correct myself) means 5e21 Watts, or 1/14 of the shield dissipation capability of the shield. Therefore, a TL blast remains at peak power for at most 1/14th of a second.
Going by this nine Acclamators would be needed to beat one Core Ship.
I'm begining to wonder what the Executor will be like.

well it takes only two Acclamators to take down a trade federation battleship in Republic Commando.Lord Zentei wrote:One could go by the assumption that an Acclamator can kill an Acclamator - fairly reasonable IMO.

Yes, well... the 1/14th of a second was the upper limit on the time the beam remains at peak power. Therefore, the 9:1 ratio is also an upper limit.Lord Revan wrote:well it takes only two Acclamators to take down a trade federation battleship in Republic Commando.Lord Zentei wrote:One could go by the assumption that an Acclamator can kill an Acclamator - fairly reasonable IMO.

already been done on here. TF pwnz, especially with the droid swarms and we won't even get into ground combat.Alexus wrote:Trade Federation vs Federation
TF: Maybe twenty thousand battlships with a total firepower of bout one megaton. (!)
F: Maybe two hundred true warships with an alpha strike of about five megatons. (!)
Who wins and how long does it take?

TF cargo carriers had been victimized by pirates, and the Reppublic allowed them to arm their ships to deter those pirates, part of Sidious' grand design.

Depends, plot points are good, as is scaling and such like from the more cinematic cutscenes such those in Dark Forces 2. Other aspects of games - possibly the number of Acclamators in Republic Commando, are affected by game mechanics, and the rendering limitations of the platforms the game is designed for.Lord Zentei wrote: BTW: I thought it was a no-no to use games.

The Acclamators also have their torpedoes. Do we have any idea on their punch or was that included in previous figures?

Capship torpedos in SW are generally weaker than beam weapons.

2000 inferior romulan troops threaten Vulcan. Imagine what a million B1s could do... And yes, IIRC, some of the Trade Fed ships carry that many troops.

Pfft. There's actually no reason to assume the B1s are that bad. They've only ever lost to clones who had the advantage of surprise. No match for a jedi, true, but decent footsoldiers.
