What did you hope would get fixed...

Post by darthnidankendo »

In the new DVD release of the original trilogy i was really hoping that they would fix the scene where Obi-Wan first hands Luke, Anikins lightsaber. When Luke turns the freaking thing on it just appears instead of "coming out" like in the other movies. Shit this even happened when Vader and Obi-Wan faces eachother. That is something that has pissed me off scince i was a kid.

Obi-Wan's stick sabre. This time, they attempted to fix it, but you can still see the stick. Inexcusable.

The cockpit transparencies in TESB- it may be impossible to fix, but yeah, its annoying.

The Executor in the added scene in TESB where Vader's shuttle goes up to meet it (most unecessary scene ever- noone had a problem with how Vader got to Executor- "bring my shuttle" was enough and sounded cool) is the wrong colour. Fix it.

Get rid of those stupid rings around the DS/DS2 and Alderaan explosions.

The reason it still looks like crap is because it's a shitty angle, pointed almost straight at the screen. There's really nothing they could have done.

Besides wanting Han to shoot first again, I was among other things hoping they'd fix the corvette mistake in ROTJ.

Some of the dialogue should've been switched back to the original release. "You're lucky you got out of there" doesn't sound as good as "You're lucky you don't taste very good." I've heard it was a matter of the quality of the sound tracks, but I don't care.

And in addition to the annoying matte boxes, why the hell is Luke's saber green on the Falcon? Don't give me the "it's sort of a documentary feel" bullshit.

I really only wanted them to fix that one shot of DSII firing that's upside-down. That's pretty much the only thing that's really bugged me, because it's so obvious.

It's because the colour balance process only really took the overall frame into consideration. Aparently nobody noticed in that scene that in several shots it turned the blade green while in others left it blue.

Frankly I was hoping to see the Battle of Endor with some more ships and a few added little scenes of intership combat. They added new little sequences to the Battle of Yavin why not add a few more Mon Cals and Stardestroyers and some small exchanges of fire? The fleet battel as it stands now looks nothing like the glimpeses we get of the Battle over Courscant in ROTS.

I think that's asking for too much just for a DVD release.

I have always hated what the blaster fire in ANH looks like. It looks like the phasers from TOS. I hoped that they would fix it this time, but they didn't.

Um, blaster fire is pretty much consistant across the films.

Yes, that was the main thing I wanted to see. Besides the fighters, the space battle is very static. I think there's only one scene where capital ships are actually exchanging fire (the infamous scene with the Corvette/Frigate inconsistency), it would've been easy (and not that big of a cost) to add some CG explosions and turbolaser shots between the ships in some of the scenes.

Rebel capships at the Battle of Yavin? Eh? They'd be annihalated in seconds. Simply a case of bam! Death Star HTLs blow them up.

Actually there was a fan who did fix it, it was posted in this forum as well aaaages ago, but alas, his website is no longer up.

Hmm, we were (or at least I think that Stravo did also) discussing the Battle of Endor.

Yeah, a bit more fleet battle at Endor would have been great. I think everyone wants the Greedo shoots first scene gone too.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Actually, I'm perfectly fine with the added scene of the shuttle docking with the Executor. But I fully agree Vader's statement "Bring my shuttle" was much better sounding.

I mean that they added whole sequences with CGI'd X-Wings in the Battle of Yavin why not add some CGI'd Mon Cals and SD's to teh Battle of Endor.

And just as an aside, it's been states in some sources that the DSI could not target Cap Ships. That was one of the new features added to the DSII the ability to target capships and rapid fire SL mode. The old DSI needed hours to recharge between full powered shots.

I think Stravo's talking about the DSI's inability to hit capships with its superlaser.
