Endor what if?

Endor what if?
Palpatine still gets killed by Vader but Lando fucks up and the DSII survives the attack.

I believe that would be, to quote Abraham Lincoln, "snatching defeat from the jaws of victory."
I'm assuming this means all fighters sent into the DSII (including the MF) are destroyed. In all likelihood this also means the rest of the Rebel fleet either a) was destroyed, or b) had to withdraw after running out of fighters. Compound this with problems for the Rebels on the ground, as after the battle the DSII and remaining Star Destroyers start sending down their stormtrooper garrisons to take care of the Ewok and Rebel infestations.
Basically, whether or not the Alliance collapses after a debacle like that depends on the still debated point as to whether the fleet at Endor was the most the Rebels could muster. If they are able to muster more, they could perhaps mount a second attack to finish the station off. If not, well, they're screwed.
Now, as for the Empire. The chance of them falling into a lot of infighting with Palpatine (and I'm assuming Vader still bites it) dying is pretty high, especially if the Alliance collapses after Endor. There'd be Admiral grabbing for the DSII, and then perhaps a Battle of Endor with Imperial ships making the attack. How successful that battle is depends on how quickly the new Death Star commander works towards completion of the station.

Heh, as a more "interesting" scenario: Palpy and Vader are gone, so Luke replaces the emperor.
He could then restore the republic from an intact powerbase. I don't think the jedi code says anything about using those who caused the mess to clean it up.

this sounds a huluva lot like one of the original endings to star wars I read once...
The rebel troops on endor are defeated, lando smashes the falcon into the shield, luke kills palpatine and redeems vader, but also takes over and renames the Death Star the Life Star.
I kid you not. I'm almost sure I saw it on a page on starwars.com along with the Biggs/Luke Tatooine scene and the C-3P0 with a large you-know-what trading card. Oh yeah Star Wars urban legends... they revealed some to be true some false. It was false.

There is no indication that the Empire was dynastic (aka that a relative of a leader would take command), that the Empire required a force user to rule, or that Vader himself would be a canidate to rule the Empire (so his son has little standing). Why would Luke be considered as a replacement? He's a Rebel!Gunhead wrote:Heh, as a more "interesting" scenario: Palpy and Vader are gone, so Luke replaces the emperor.

That sounds more like one of those God damn Tales movie retellings. I know of no such actual alternate ending for the film.Crossroads Inc. wrote:You are F'ing kidding me? He becomes Emperor and Renames it, the LifeStar?
And for the record, Endor would have been destroyed, since that's what Jerjerod was attempting to do when DSII exploded.
I believe in a sign of Zeta.

otherwise you could simply disable the Superlaser (remove the crystals, power systems, etc.) and turn it into a giant orbital Space Station.

If the Death Star had not been destroyed in the first place, the New Republic would not have ever existed, and the Rebel Alliance would be doomed. Whatever became of the Empire sans Palpy and Vader would certainly not use the Death Star for good.Cabwi Desco wrote:I'm just telling you what I read. I didn't make this shit up. How about as a mobile command center for the military? Of course the super laser would have to be taken, out to prevent any moffs or admirals with delusions of grandeur from trying to topple the government.
Also how about as a planetary seige weapon. It can carry many millions of troops, supplies and fighters.

If Lando were to err in his attack run and the Rebels finally be defeated there would stand a good chance that Moff Jerjerrod or one of the four Grand Admirals (one is a qualified Dark Jedi) on board the station would conjur up some sort of a pact with the crew, hasten quickly back to Coruscant, and reclaim the Empire for himself.
The Moff may then find that he has quite a greater chance to enfore this as previously he had been legitimately recognized by the Emperor as the station's true commander; a station located by mishap in the same sector that swore allegiance to him.
As for Luke attempting to gain the august throne, the Grand Admiral steeped in the dark side that I mentioned was en route to the Emperor's throne room upon feeling the Emperor's death and would have easily massacured Luke if he might not have left the citadel beforehand. Even if that were to fail, the millions of stormtroopers on the Death Star would have easily captured him.

That's from one of the fake scripts that can be found on the 'Net. The OS has made it clear that they're fake, and they don't match anything from publications such as the Annotated Screenplays.Cabwi Desco wrote:I'm just telling you what I read.
