I know that Stardestroyers are supposed to have neutronium plating as part of their armor but do lighter warships like Carracks and Strike Cruisers also have neutronium as part of their armor make up?
Would neutronium armor components be limited to big ships like the stardestroyers and up classes?
Also this might be stupidly obvious but does the DSII have neutronium components in the armor plating as well?

Re: Starship hull question
Presumably they can, although its not strictly neccessary for that to be the only sort of armor (SW has the technology to create ultra-dense materials such as the molecular-bonded armor of the STar's End facility and of course the Sun Crusher armor, which was later seen to be used in some form in civilian applications. According to the NJO there are also armors that are superior to the Sun Crusher armor.)Stravo wrote:I know that Stardestroyers are supposed to have neutronium plating as part of their armor but do lighter warships like Carracks and Strike Cruisers also have neutronium as part of their armor make up?
Not neccesarily. Starship armor can also differ in terms of thickness/volume, coverage (the "hangarless" star destroyers vs the ones with Hangars.) as well as quality (there is one kind of durasteel used in an Imperial Prison that held mara Jade that was able to withstand several Star Destroyer TL blasts and was only 15 cm thick, whereas the EGW&T mentions an arrtillery platform whose outputs are comparabel to a Star Destroyer TL and is capable of penetrating up to twenty meters of durasteel.)Would neutronium armor components be limited to big ships like the stardestroyers and up classes?
No idea and AFAIK no evidencee suggests it factually, but presumably so.Also this might be stupidly obvious but does the DSII have neutronium components in the armor plating as well?

That's pretty wild. Maybe more versatile and cost-effective in lamanium, but nothing beat the utter durability and toughness of the quantum crystalline Sun Crusher armor.Connor MacLeod wrote:According to the NJO there are also armors that are superior to the Sun Crusher armor.)

IIRC a blast door in the novel Shatterpoint had neutronium in it in some form.
(One way to think of it is this: the "quality" could be due to variations in the amount of neutronium present - or other materials in fact.)
In Tales of the Bounty Hunters, IG-88 was (IIRC) made from "durasteel", and he weighed at least "several" metric tons (which should give you a rough idea of the density of durasteel.. at least in some forms)

Re: Starship hull question
Not all types of QC armor are comparable in durability (much like Durasteel.) The "commercial" version used in the diving bell LAndo's Gemdiver station used in the YJK series was dented (slightly, but persistently) by corusca stones that impacted the hull when the bell was in the gas-giant's atmosphere. Contrast that with the ability of the Sun Crusher to plow through the bridge of an ISD's hull in "Jedi Search"Illuminatus Primus wrote:That's pretty wild. EDIT: the specific mention of the armor was from Star by Star, when we first (IIRC) saw the "Yuuzhan-Vong Killer" droid.. and it was indicated the armor was capable of withstanding a single hit from a Coralskipper's guns (although not without damage.) the materials used in Grievous' body seem to be similarily resistant.

I know, but you specified the QC Sun Crusher armor.

No, I used "Sun Crusher" armor to refer to QC armor in general. (But yes, I should have been more specific.)
