Promo vs. Reality
Have you ever seen a promo for something, thought "Oh wow! That looks really cool!" Waited paitently for that something to come out, and when it does, you find out it's NOT THE SAME AS THE PROMO AT ALL??
I have now lost faith in Promos.

Eh, that's true for most things.
Except for the new Z. Purrrrrrrr, I want that baby.

Re: Promo vs. Reality
That happened to me a long time ago. Like the ones for Fight Club. They portray it as a mere street fighting movie, when it is really so much more than that. Ugh...Yogi wrote:Have you ever seen a promo for something, thought "Oh wow! That looks really cool!" Promos are created by advertisers. They want to get you to buy the product. That is why the promos always show a better product than in reality to entice you to buy it. Have you ever seen a promo that said: "Well our product sucks, don't buy it, in fact buy our competitor's car. It's much better and cheaper."

I remember that. I'm still waiting for a good movie on street fighting. That would be cool.XaLEv wrote:That happened to me a long time ago. Like the ones for Fight Club. Seriously you know at least a dozen people thought, or are thinking, the exact same thing.JediNeophyte wrote:CmdrWilkens wrote:You know I saw this and all I could see was "Porno vs Reality,"

Uh, with a name like that how could it be a dark science fiction epic?Yogi wrote:A while ago, a promo for an anime called "Kiddy Grade" was released/ It looked like it was going to be some dark science fiction epic. However, what I get is light-hearted fluff.
And I waited for months for the first episode!
I now HATE previews.

True. But in that case, the name was really odd. Slayers seemed kinda warrior like and therefore did kinda describe the series. Violinist of Hamelin had a Violinist so it was accurate and I haven't heard of read or die. Usually titles are descriptive or sort of metaphors. I dunno, a name like Kiddy Grade seemed descriptive. I guess the promo was just really really deceptive then.Yogi wrote:It's Anime. Often times Anime titles have very little to do with the actual content. Lusankya: Deal!
Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either.

I'd grabbed the first episode via the newsgroups when it was first fansubbed, and this has a completely different tone to it . About the only thing that's similar between this promo and the actual show are the gratuitous panty flashes.Yogi wrote:See for yourself (link will be up for 48 hours)

WTF is it with deceptive advertising in general?!?!? Next spammer that advertises a plus-three inches penis extension that does nothing but turn everyone's bananas into chipped-beef fruit salad I'm gonna personally nominate them to be shot point-blank with this:
The Steyr AMR Sniper Rifle...
In a pinch this:
a Barrett M82 .50 BMG Sniper Rifle, will hafta do...

Damn. That was deceptive. Where did that title come from?Yogi wrote:ftp://Trade:Trade@128.125.241.124:8472/[e-f]_kiddy_grade_promo_v2.avi See for yourself (link will be up for 48 hours)neoolong wrote:True.
