By the way, according to the SW Databank, yes, Clone Commanders, though specially trained (something I've never denied) are the same breed as their troops, and not a special variant like the ARCs.

I thought the Republic military used Clones for everything, be it army or navy.

You even see Clonetroopers manning those "Ship of the Line" style cannons in the RotS trailer. And it's know they use Clonetroopers as fighter, bomber, and Army Gunship pilots. Not to mention officers all the way up to Major at least. Seriously, those Clonetroopers are just popping up everywhere.

In the years after the Republic becomes the Empire, the Clone Army will become a separate branch of the military akin to the modern Marine Corps. Army and Navy personnel will be mostly recruits.

Most Imperial Pilots and Gunners will also be clones, though of their own templates.

The structure of the Republic's military does not carryover into the Empire, which is structured quite differently.

But, you're correct as far as the Republic goes (with the exception of actual crew) Clones serve as ground troops, fighter pilots and gunners.

You see? I'm not so sure of that. We assume that is the case, but as the prequels go on, George Lucas is making everything a fucking clone. The Imperial Navy officers seems to have gotten away from that and you get certain Army officers like Veers and the dude in RotJ who goes "You stinkin' Rebel scum...", but it seems more as time goes on that ole George is setting up for the Imperial military to be packed with clones rather than recruits. He's already said basically that the Stormtroopers are the decendants of the Clonetroopers and clones like them, after all, not recruits.

There are confirmed enlisted crew and non-clone officers in the Clone Wars. The Imperial Army is entirely enlisted for its combat troops. Likewise the enlisted ratings of the Navy.

Only the Imperial Starfighter Corps and the Corps of Imperial Marines (and its still iffy on the first) have clones. And the former is not even entirely (and its not even indicated mostly) clones.

What are you talking about? George Lucas has pretty much stated openly that the Stormtroopers are clones, not recruits, and always were.

What are you talking about? George Lucas has pretty much stated openly that the Stormtroopers are clones, not recruits, and always were.

Stormtrooper are not regular army. They are an elite branch of the marines (IIRC)

Which is why the the clones have their own branch of the military, the Stormtroopers (or Imperial Marines) are made up mostly of clones. At least the troopers are, the officers seem to have plenty of recruits among them.

The Army and Navy are mostly (or dare I say, exclusively) devoid of clones. The Imperial Pilots Corps seems to work similarly to the Stormtroopers, and the Gunners seem like a sub-division of the Pilots Corps.

The exact organization isn't clear as yet, but Nex' breakdown sounds more or less correct to me. I think the gist of what Lucas is going for (whether or not we agree with it) is that everything with a full face helmet is a clone.

It would seem that the Army and Navy are composed of enlisted personnel, as one would normally expect, plus addtional masses of clones as starfighter pilots, gun crews and Stormtroopers.

The clones seem to use the same tactics as the french and british at the begining of WW2 Infantry supported by lone tanks.

GE uses Whermacht style tactics of armored spearheads and Mechenazied infantry.
