Scaling Methods
Babtech on the Net is the most well-thought-out collection of Babylon 5 technical documents online.
Nice page Brian, a real good 'step by step' guide.

Aside from the LotR purist in me wanting to smack you quite severely for claiming that the films trump other sources, it's good...

it probaly an example, not Brian's opinion.NecronLord wrote:Aside from the LotR purist in me wanting to smack you quite severely for claiming that the films trump other sources, it's good...
The itself is good, the only problem I have with it, is that doesn't say what to do when two primary sources are in conflict (for example the ST:FC Defiant compared to DS9 Defiant).
I may be an idiot, but I'm a tolerated idiot

Actually I think it IS his opinion, and I happen to think it's correct the way he means it. Visuals from the movies DO trump all other sources-where scaling in the movies is concerned. If I understand correctly, Brian's not saying Gimli cannot be any other size than the one depicted on screen. Movie Gimli can't. This is about scaling, not canonicity.Lord Revan wrote:it probaly an example, not Brian's opinion.NecronLord wrote:Aside from the LotR purist in me wanting to smack you quite severely for claiming that the films trump other sources, it's good...
Why should he? This isn't about canonicity, it's about scaling. From a scaling POV there's no need for the FC Defiant to be the same size as the DS9 one.The itself is good, the only problem I have with it, is that doesn't say what to do when two primary sources are in conflict (for example the ST:FC Defiant compared to DS9 Defiant).
Oh, and welcome back, Brian.

Err-there's an identically titled thread in OSF, which I happen to think is where this belongs, so this propably deserves to be either moved or just plain locked.

Yes. I know. That's why I'm only itching to bitch at him, not actually bitching at him.Lord Revan wrote:it probaly an example, not Brian's opinion.
