Favorite character reveal in a game

Post by Lord Revan »

Well there's the Favorite character reveal in a movie thread in OT, so basically the same thing but for games.

for me it's the revelation reveal of Darth Revan in SW:Knight of the Old Republic. (spoilers)after some dialoge with Darth Malak, you several visions of past events (in the game) and locations of Starmaps (that are critcal for the plot), then "aerial" shot coming down to Revan's face as (s)he removes his/her mask to reveal your PC's face (mauled by Dark side corruption, but still recogniceble) under the Mask. Then confirmation from both Malak and Bastilla.

I never would have guessed......

Revan's is probably my favorite too, because it was so damn shocking.

I also like Desann's revealtion scene from Jedi outcast.

He shows up, kicks your ass six ways from sunday, and kills Jan.

Spoilerific of BG II below:

Most annoying is Yoshimo in Baldur's Gate II. Didn't see it coming and was really gutted because he is so cool.

I kinda like Zero's reveal in Megaman Zero 1. It was so badass when they start panning upward from his feet, and you hear the classic Zero theme start up...and then the pwning starts.

I like chaos' in Xenosaga for the sheer subtleness of it.

He enters the bridge of the Elsa to stop the argument between KOS-MOS and Shion(IIRC), which seems normal enough. Then the view switches to KOS MOS' POV, and you see her replay the moment in a corner of the screen, where you see that chaos didn't actually enter the bridge. You see the hatch, a quick burst of static, and suddenly he's there, as if he had just walked in, even though the distortion didn't last nearly long enough for the door to open and close.

The revelation of who was the reincarnation of Zelda in Wind Waker. I had suspected it but it still surprised me.

When the identity of the leader of the IRIS Network is revealed in Beyond Good & Evil. Also when we learn about Jade's connection to the DomZ.

Magus' first appearance in CT was pretty damn cool.

His appearance in Marathon Infinity is also memorable. I don't remember exactly what he said on the first screen, but the gist was: Yeah, everythings all fucked up now, so you'd better unfuck it really fast.

I just wished they'd taken the time to re-draw the sprites for that last battle. They missed a perfect opportunity to clear up one of that series' most nagging plot holes.

As for the main thread topic, I have only six words: "The Polito form is dead, insect." SHODAN pwns o'er all.

Yeah, he should have looked like the original X-series Zero. That would have been sweet.

Not nearly as good as his reveals in the first two, though. I found the third installment to be lacking, personally.

And for the reveal in the second Marathon, you know I'm not talking about when you talk to him for the first time.

No, you're joking. You gotta be joking, because SC3 was so bad I can't think anyone would like it at all.

Although the first had some class too.

SC3 is a bad game, indeed. But the Precursor relevation was... surprising, to say the least. I mean, I though the Precursor ran away to some other galaxy or other dimension. Who knows they have been hiding THAT way?

Besides, SC3 has its own moments. Do you remember when we made fun of the K'Tang, telling them that the race they don't remember must be a stupid and insignificant member of the Crux?

Admittedly that is a very powerful theme, to hide in plain sight.

No. I hated the K'Tang, and must have blocked everything of them from my mind.

The game also felt short, shorter than Starcontrol 2. Firing the people who made SC2 also ensured that SC3 would suck.
