Rockman Zero 4
So, the game's official release date was today, but apparently some unscrupulous Hong Kong shopkeepers let the cat out of the bag early (yes, proof of this claim has been supplied)...not to mention the OMG PIRATES.
Has anyone tried it yet? From what I've seen and heard it seems kinda cool (SPOILER: One of the two 'intro' stages is set in the ruins of one of the prior Resistance bases supposedly), albeit short, since some people have beaten it already. (ANOTHER SPOILER: Apparently Weil is the final boss, and Zero gets himself blown up after the space station he's on explodes. You apparently get to see him being vaporized, except for his helmet, which crashes to earth and is discovered by Ceil.)

It definitely sounds interesting at least, though I've never know Zero to stay dead. Even when it seems completely implausible, he always shows up for the next game (though the X5-X6 transition was more due to Capcom's demand that Zero be brought back coupled with really bad writing).
I've also heard that Zero 4 has a vocal ending theme -- I wonder if it'll be kept in the U.S. release, as Japanese theme songs are almost always cut out of Megaman games (with the exception of the lazily-translated X6).
And is it just me, or does Ciel resemble Gundam SEED's Lacus Clyne? I just get the same vibe from both characters. Maybe it's just the tall ponytail and seeming obsession with pink?

Hey remember that weird cyber-world thing from Zero 3? How it turned out to be the reploid afterlife or something? Well if zero does indeed die in the ending of Zero 4 my totally unsubstantiated theory is that it's an excuse to get him into the cyber world (along with both Phantom, original zero/omega and who knows how many dead reploids) for Z5.Datana wrote:It definitely sounds interesting at least, though I've never know Zero to stay dead. Still, I'll have to play the game at somepoint and see how it turns out.
These Rockman Zero games must be hard as hell, because people are doing speedruns through the game and uploading videos of em
I saw a preview of one such video and it sure looked like a difficult platformer.

"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."
Also look at the size of the crater around his helmet. Looks like something considerably bigger than the helmet crashed there. I saw pictures of the ending movie. His whole body must have crashed.Ryoga wrote:Well, they can recover in Zero 5, I imagine. (MORE SPOILER DISCUSSION: Maybe Harpuia goes up into space and recovers a severely-damaged Zero? This could give them an excuse to change his appearance or something, if they felt like it.
Hamel, so you know the US name is MegaMan Zero. They're considered the hardest megaman games. If you go slow and get every single powerup in the game, it gets easy by the end, but if you want to gain EX skills (basicly, really cool combos) you cannot use any of the big powerups (double health for the rest of the game, etc), and the game is INSANELY hard that way.
And Hard Mode is nearly impossible. I don't know how I beat MMZ3 on hard mode. Yikes.
Not to mention X. Hope not. I hope X dies permanentlyTatterdemalion wrote:Hey remember that weird cyber-world thing from Zero 3? How it turned out to be the reploid afterlife or something? Well, Zero 3 does away with the styles from Zero 2, has some cool EX skills, and adds body chips so you can make Zero even more insanely powerful than in the first two games Double jumping, walking on water, super speed, no crumbling terrain, no slipping on ice, fast or automatic charging, etc.
And the story is fairly good. But yeah, its the same game engine.
MMZ4 apparently adds the ability to take weapons from enemies from what I've heard, though. That might be interesting.
And BTW, the revelation of who Omega is, and the final boss battle of MMZ3 (which is awesome) are worth playing the whole game for
