Perhaps it is a sequel to wind waker, but occurs much later? I can't see how it can be the WW Link. In what, 6 years, they found a new land to call Hyrule, established several villages and built an entire CASTLE?

Just because Link comes from Tarou, doesn't mean a damn thing that it's post AoL.

Tarou as a village could have exsisted for several hundred years prior to LoZ/AoL, we just never saw it in LttP because we had a very limited area in which to explore, Link's quest in LttP/LoZ didn't cover all of Hyrule and the surronding countryside unlike AoL. Tarou could have been built post WW, after the world was "reborn" soto say, when the seas receeded.

As for where this game comes in at, I'm damn near positive it comes after WW, like Spanky says, but several years after, if not a few decades, with this being a new Link.

If your trying to figure things out by ingame legends, just remember; most of this was passed down by word of mouth ingame, we no longer have hard and fast rules on the time periods, "Several Generations Ago" could actually be several hundred years prior. Just like in LttP the Seven Sages are said to be men, while in OoT, it's revealed to have several women in the mix.

until E3 comes along and even more information then we have is revealed, we can only do speculations on this games place in the timeline.

And I second Spanky, in that until Zerg Goddess actually makes a coherent fucking statement, instead of some random line which I'm *STILL* trying to figure out where it comes from, an explains he/she/itself, it's infantile ranting and razing.

Here's the new-new information on the game, courtesy of Zelda Legends, et al:
According to Jeux-Zelda, the game begins with Link 16 years old, and he will age with time. At the beginning, our hero will have to learn how to fight with a wooden stick through a tutorial in a village named Toaru. This village of peasants raises cows to sell to the kingdom of Hyrule. Each year, Hyrule organizes a festival which gathers all the chiefs of all villages in order to create a unified community. The chiefs of the various villages must be present at this event, but this year, the chief of Toaru decides to send the young man Link to attend the festival and to represent his village in his place. In the course of his travels, Link will witness an accident which will be the beginning of the adventure in which it will have to once again save the princess Zelda.

I think what s/he's saying is that s/he won't buy the new Zelda game because Link does not conform 100% to what s/he believes Link should look like/behave. I think.

Oh, except for the fact that Link has ALWAYS been left-handed?

Stupid, petty bitch...

Concerning Toaru, it could be a town that came and went, and by LttP, no longer exists through some way or another.

Someone over at Zelda Legends says that the magazine states that the game IS set in Hyrule and that it's not the same Link as in TWW.

That's rather odd, considering they're both blondes. The Links in OoT, ALttP, LoZ/AoL, and the GCN Links all have distinctly different hair colors.

The real question about Hyrule is whether it's the Hyrule referred to at the end of TWW or the unflooded Hyrule seen other games. Or perhaps it's a bit of both, with Toaru and the other mentioned villages being parts of lands surrounding what we know as Hyrule.

And I think Zerg Goddess is upset because they drew a comparison to Adventure of Link (a clearly minor and irrelevant one), a game I'm guessing she doesn't like. It's best to continue ignoring her untill her baby troll teeth fall out and she grows a set of adult fangs. :P

That's what I was thinking. AoL is reviled by most of the people I know who've played it.

I got it on GBA and I rather like it. It's a lot more dynamic than I imagined, especially in dungeon layout and combat. And the soundtrack is simply fukkin' boss.

indeed, nothing wrong with the Adventures of Link, I have it for the GC on the Zelda Collection disc.

Aside from a complete departure from our standard Zelda fair, what with it being a ariel map with Side scrolling action scenes, it did pretty well, and allowed us a better glimpse at some of the classic Zelda monsters at the time.

And yes, the soundtrack was awesome. I liked the new opening theme they used on it. Liked it so much actually, I use it as a ringtone on my cell.

Hm. I've never played AoL even though I have that same GC disk. I could never find the damned hammer.

Adventure of Link. *Gannon-bans DarkSilver*

If I didn't already have all the main Zelda games including LA DX and the GBA Classic NES games, I'd take your Collection copy for saying that.  I so wanted that when it first came out. At least I got that OoT Mast Quest special GC disk.

NO VOICE ACTING CONFIRMED! Whew.
Matt-IGN: In one of the new mags, Aonuma confirms that voice-acting is a no-go for the new Zelda. He says that Miyamoto shot down the idea. I have to say, I find that news extremely disappointing. This new game promises to be so epic on so many levels. It's a shame to see Nintendo skimping on production values where voice work is concerned. Die-hard fans may claim that text works fine, but I think voices work better. There's no reason to ignore that.

Juan-IGN: This is true. Text should be available as an option, just like in most Xbox titles, but there should be voice work. It adds a whole new element to every character. No doubt about it.
Juan-IGN: If Link did have a real voice, though, do you think Nintendo would do a decent job finding a voice actor to do the job right?
Juan-IGN: He's supposed to start the game as a snot-nosed teen, after all.

Matt-IGN: Don't know. But it doesn't matter. I'm not even suggesting that Link needs to talk. He can remain a mute, for all I care. But the story would flow better if the characters he encountered used speech.

Matt-IGN: I believe Nintendo is being a dinosaur in this regard. Just refusing to get with the times. It's disappointing, for sure.

Juan-IGN: Has Nintendo commented recently about its no-voice convictions?

Matt-IGN: Only to say that Miyamoto didn't want Link to speak. Which is fine. But does everybody need to be without a voice?

I probably wouldn't mind if they eventually had both text and speach for other characters besides Link, as long as Link still used text only.

The only thing is that I don't think I'd want them to dub in English, simply because I just know it wouldn't be as good as the Japanese...

For the record, I'm well aware that the Rito are related to the Zora. Read the first part of my post again. Don't feel like getting into the whole "where does Wind Waker go" debate again, so I'll just leave it at that.

I don't mind text-only. Call me stupid/sentimental, but I think it's part of the Zelda charm.

I actually wouldn't mind a little more vocalisation, you know like what's been present in the last three games.
