It all looks very interesting, it's good to see there are some prices available too, one of those 100 mile tanks costs 2200 a pop, so 4 of them would set you back $8800, yowza.

I wonder what the complete kit will cost and how many tanks it will include, I've heard it should be less than 10,000 USD.

And if all goes as plan it should go on sale this summer, I can't wait to see customers giving feedback on this.

There's still the factor though of hydrogen embrittlement, how big a factor is that in a car?

Oh that's all very sexy, though I'm waiting for them to produce some solid concrete testing data on how the vehicles perform on hydrogen, before I turn off my bullshit detectors on this one.

And given that a car's engine is typically comprised of iron or aluminum, and given that the high-temperature steam is highly corrosive, I would expect that the hydrogen conversion will shave a few tens of thousands of miles off the life of the automobile, as the embrittlement will likely accelerate the wear of the engine.

From what I've read it depends alot on the fuel injection system, with a port injection system or carb you only get like 85% the efficiency of gasoline but with direct injection you can get 120%.

Part of the required alterations to the car involved changing the heads to new high-compression ones and replacing the exhaust with a stainless steel one. I believe aluminum is not as suspectible to hydrogen embrittlement as cast iron but still the engine blocks of most older cars, like say mine are made from cast iron, can they be treated somehow or is this an unavoidable side-effect?

I recall that embrittlement is a product of oxidative corrosion (e.g. rust). In this case, I suspect the embrittlement could be dealt with by means of cathodic protection, e.g. the use of a sacrificial anode: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sacrificial_anode which could be costly in its own rite.

Can anyone else comment on this?
