New HL2: Aftermath Shots
Moderator: Thanas
That was real fucking lame DP. We have plenty of evidence pointing out that it could be anyone playing as the character in Aftermath and you berrat people and then insult them after you show evidence you'd been witholding.

Withholding? No. I was aware of it, but I didn't have the link.
And I'm not justifying my attitude, but as of late, and for at least the rest of this week, I'm going to be more on edge and generally bitchy, because finals are stressful.

Yeah, I missed that. And you need to be less of a bastard if people make a mistake. Oh darn, I overlooked that it was it has crylic lettering for a while. Jeez. Barney talked in Half-Life, yet was featured in Blue Shift.Spyder wrote:The main character you play in Aftermath will not be Alyx, Barney or any other character that Gordon interacted with in HL2. What do all the characters in all the HL games + expansion packs have in common? They all keep their traps shut.

Speaking of HUD's, consider the following:
In Blue Shift, Barney has a HUD, yet clearly has no such helmet.
In Opfor, Adrian has a HUD, yet he only has a normal gasmask, but ok, it covers his face.
In HL and HL2, Gordon has an HEV suit with a fancy helmet. Except, he clearly doesn't wear the helmet!
So where does Gordon's HUD come from? Is it magically projected onto his emo glasses?

It's there for the sake of the game. The HEV suit has verbal warning as well. Speculating for realism, there'd probably be a little suit monitor with information on the arm or something for Gordon to reference.

There were multiple Barneys and none of them were important characters in the original HL. It's a safe bet that the protagonist in HL2:A will not have any dialogue, thus I find it unlikely that they'll take one of the main characters and suddenly make them mute.JediNeophyte wrote:Barney talked in Half-Life, yet was featured in Blue Shift.Spyder wrote:The main character you play in Aftermath will not be Alyx, Barney or any other character that Gordon interacted with in HL2. Even if you ignore that (HL1 Barney's talk), it would be equally absurd if they took a character that doesn't speak when you're him (Barney) and later add a lot of dialogue to him (Half Life 2), but guess what, they did it.Spyder wrote:There were multiple Barneys and none of them were important characters in the original HL. Think about the way the weapons menus work, and how when you click the weapon just suddenly is pulled from the same place as all the others... Really sure you want to try to apply logic to this?Julhelm wrote:

The Barney you play as in Blue Shift is the Barney you see pounding on the locked door at the beginning of Half-Life. If you turn around, you can even see Gordon in the tram going by.Slartibartfast wrote:Even if you ignore that (HL1 Barney's talk), it would be equally absurd if they took a character that doesn't speak when you're him (Barney) and later add a lot of dialogue to him (Half Life 2), but guess what, they did it.Spyder wrote:There were multiple Barneys and none of them were important characters in the original HL. If you're playing as Gordon, you're simply not going to speak.

No it's not absurd because when we move over from half life one to half life 2 all the non essentual characters suddenly gained names, importance and actual roles, Barney suddenly becoming a proper character was part of HL2's novelty. It would be absurd to give him all the characterization he received in HL2 then suddenly take it away from him in an expansion pack.Slartibartfast wrote:

You missed my point. Regardless which Barney you play in Blue Shift, that's the same Barney that helps you in Half Life 2. And he speaks.DPDarkPrimus wrote:The Barney you play as in Blue Shift is the Barney you see pounding on the locked door at the beginning of Half-Life.
