YES! I've fucking had enough of the main characters already! I can't wait to see what kind of a show the second one turns out to be.Slashdot wrote:Mictian writes "In a rare public appearance at the Star Wars Celebration III (his previous fan event appearance was in 1987), George Lucas confirmed that he's working on two TV series. One will be a full 3D animation series (with 30-minute episodes) of the recent Cartoon Network Clone Wars shorts, and the other a live-action series, that will be set in the time between Episodes III and IV, but won't feature the main characters. Production is expected to begin in about a year."

I hope that the Jedi witches hardly ever make an appearence, let alone even mentioned at all. Other than the movies, I fucking hate stories that revolve around the Jedi.
The Purge was mostly finished in RotS.

It would be really neat if Vader played a big role in one of them.
Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.

I'm glad it won't feature main characters, though I hope they're not carbon copies either. Maybe something focussed around bounty hunters or smugglers or some other type of entrepeneurs.
The CG cartoon seems a tad cryptic. I was hoping for an animated 'The Han And Chewie Show'.

Yeah, that's what I'm rooting for. They don't even have to be hardcore smugglers or any sort of criminals, just being the crew of a regular light freighter can be pretty interesting in the SWU. What with Imperial entanglements, Hutt cartels, BoSS, miscellaneous merchant guilds established in the EU and all....Utsanomiko wrote: Maybe something focussed around bounty hunters or smugglers or some other type of entrepeneurs.

Wow, this is awesome news. The time period between the trilogies is a mystery, and there's a lot of good stories that could be told about it. I'm also glad that they have the balls to focus on new characters. A series about the rise of the Empire was probably the best premise for the show that people could think of, and it's great to see that Lucas will probably be using it.
The animated series came as a surprise. What do they have to do with the Clone Wars shorts on the Cartoon Network? Will the new show be a CGI, 30 minute remake of the shorts? No more crappy animation or extremely short lengths? That sounds a lot like what a lot of us were originally hoping for when we first heard about the Clone Wars series.

I think Lucas basically called the three seasons a "pilot show", and that it will be extended to a full-blown series. Don´t think that meant re-doing the existing ones.
In a way, I´m a bit pissed about this. If they´re gonna go with a period from the movies instead of outside them, why couldn´t they picked the GCW instead? We already have enough animated material on the CW, with the existing series and the two films, dozens of battles and events added up. We still only got four battles in the OT put together (one off-screen, I might add), and I want more. Even it up, dammit!

Good grief, you people are jaded. Given Aayla's popularity as a fan character, it makes perfect sense that she'd show up at least intermittently in a series set between ROTS and ANH if she's still around.

She's frickin' hot, BTW.
I want a series revolving around Boba Fett as he carves through the galaxy killing Jedi, crooks, and shmucks who went to the wrong loan shark. I want to see him go Rambo and vaporize people and stab people and carbonite people and rip people to shreds with his fucking hands! YEAH!

I kind of agree. I liked Fett in the movies. I also liked the fact that he died and we never really saw too much of him. Ever since the EU brought him back, he's been wanked over to a ridiculous degree and has become one of the more embarrassing SW characters in my opinion. He's just a huge fanwhore magnet.THEHOOLIGANJEDI wrote:Am I the only person that isn't that interested in the Fett's beyond the movies? Oh well? Just never got their huge appeal.
