Information Request (Sadly, KJA books related)

Does anyone know the following:

The dimensions of the Darksaber?
The actual power of the Maw Death Star prototype?

I don't recall that they ever gave the dimensions of the Dark Sabre. I would assume that it's at least as wide as the superlaser dish of Death Star I.

The Maw Death Star Prototype, according to WEG, had a superlaser output between 1D-6D Death Star scale, compared to 2D-16D for both Death Stars.

So, more than capable of planetary destruction for the Maw prototype? Excellent. Thanks.

It must at least accomodate nearly the same-size main reactor core of the Death Star I (accounting of course for accelerating a much lesser mass; although then again the Darklsaber is much more manouverable/agile than the Death Star, so many the greater acceleration cancels out the lesser mass) and probably similar volumes to the Death Star I superlaser dish for the weapon system.

No. The WEG scale is not linear. As an example, the Eclipse SL is 11D Death Star scale, and most of us don't think it has 2/3rds of the power of the DSI - in fact, it can't blow apart a planet at all.

I'm quite sure that the Death Star Prototype had enough destructive firepower to completely obliterate Kessel's moon.

I'm pretty sure the darksabre was somewhat bigger than the DS I superlaser. In addition to the superlaser it would have required a power generator, engines, and other random things like a control center.

The DS was of course faulty and didn't actually work... IIRC

It doesn't need the full shebang of death star power to be able to take out a planet though. 1000th the power of the DS would do quite fine for that task.

Yes, because the dumbass hutt decided to use hivemind labor instead of a real work crew. As a bonus, the materials were of low quality. The design Lesmik (sp) out out would have worked admirably, had it been constructed properly.

The prototype Death Dtar destroyed Kessel's moon, so it should at least be cracking a planet AFAIK

....And if that's Kessel over there, in the background, all I can say is WTF... :wtf:

For one, that shape would *never* hold together without eventually forming a rough sphere. Sorry, but a potato-shaped planet, *that is inhabitable by humans, atmosphere generators or not* is simply impossible.

I suppose we have KJA to thank for that particular abortion...

Later renditions of Kessel other than that illustration for the WEG JAT Sourcebook fortunately aren't so dramatically potato-ish.

At least I think...

Couldn't it have been some other moon of Kessel?

A moon which is more spherical than the planet it revolves around... :?

Are there any known dimensions for Kessel? If not, it should be around the size of Hyperion at maximum, I would think. Could a planet that small (Hyperion is 410 x 260 x 220 km) hold an atmosphere realistically, given the technology of the Empire?

Sorry if this is too off-topic.

According to WotC, Kessel is 6632-7980 kilometers in diameter.
