Good Aspects About Computer Labs

Post by LapsedPacifist »

For those of you who are university students who have used computer labs, what aspects of the labs make for a better experience? Lighting, furniture, layout, software... Did you have a lab that was a favorite? Why?

I'm looking to redo some labs and was hoping to get some ideas.

What is the purpose of the computer lab? Is it a general computer lab for all university students, or is it designed specifically for a certain group (i.e. engineer/computer science students, architechture, film etc)? Is it meant to be integrated with classes?

Er. Well, my lab has a bunch of signs hanging from the ceiling, usually to indicate where the printers and stuff are. Along one side it's got a sign labeled, 'SLEEPY'. That side's where all the insominacs work... :P
It's a strange world. Let's keep it that way.

It was probably the Silicon Graphics workstation and the nice big screens that kept me going back there.
